Dion Phaneuf won't play in Game 6

Calgary Flames head coach Mike Keenan said defenceman Dion Phaneuf would not play in Monday's Game 6 of the conference quarter-final versus Chicago.``He is not available,'' Keenan said. Phaneuf was levelled by Chicago's Troy Brouwer with about eight minutes remaining in Saturday's Game 5, which ended 5-1 in favour of Chicago and gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead in the series. Phaneuf got up and appeared dazed as he skated to the Flames bench and did not return to the game. He did not participate in Monday morning's pre-game skate and was not available to speak to reporters.

Apparantly, neither will the rest of the Team.

If the the Ducks beat the Sharks we play the Hawks....if the Sharks take out the Ducks we play the Wings

I'm surprised that anyones surprised that they got bounced again so easily. Let's see:

- they tanked the last 25 games of the year
- a defense riddled with major injuries
- a goalie with a regular season average of around 3.0
- no attempt to pick up a reilable back-up in net and so they burn out Kipper again by over-playing him
- a genuinely shitty season from Iginla
- another failed old guy resurrection experiment a la Nolan/Amonte/Joseph except this time around with Bertuzzi who is clearly a broken shadow of his former self
- an over-rated so-called "legend" of a coach who hasn't done any better than the rookie coach he replaced two years ago
- another season of enduring failed draft picks that haven't struck paydirt since they lucked out with Phaneuf over six years ago
- a scouting system, both in North America and Europe, that's an absolute joke at picking prospects

I have no suggestions for improvement to make. They don't suck anywhere near as bad as Toronto does so there's no call for blowing up the team and rebuilding from scratch. But clearly something has to be done. Injuries aside there's no excuse for a team that was so hot that they could have won the Cup if the playoffs began in January ending up blowing the division lead and then one-and-done again.

The only comfort right now is that at least I'm not a Sharks or brokeback Oilers fan.

iginla definitely did not have a shitty season. 8th in points is not a shitty season at all.

I stand statistically corrected. But if you asked Iggy right now how he feels about his season he'd probably rip your head clean off your shoulders in response.

Defender of the justice, I am going to pick apart your posts upon the Flames who had a great year yet shitty post-season.

Not a good omen going into the playoffs but meaningless. Blues had the best record going INTO the playoffs, where are they now? A part of a broom.

Worse goalies went far into the playoffs than Kipper. They guy has shown his age and let slippery ones in. Defence need not apply.

True and I agree. Calling some no-name up for a back-up from the AHL isn't going to solve their problems. Then again, the Flames don't want to be like the Leafs and signing up Gerber and slop like him as backups.

Eeeeeh. Wrong. 35 goals and 89 points in a season is not a 'shitty' season. Lots of star players are invisible in the playoffs. Unfortunately it happened to the Flames. Although I'm wondering why Canadian teams seem to get the ghost problem while all American teams step up a pace or two. Great coaching though too. *sarcasm* Get rid of iron Mike asshole.

Bertuzzi is not old but he is a broken person upon himself. Ever since his infamous hit, he has not been his old self gettin grinding and gritty. Like he is afraid of doing so. Unfortunately, he has been the Flames' bad point. Doing stupid penalties resulting in pp goals. Get him outta here.

Everything else I agree. One thing I don't understand is that, Darrel Sutter as a coach did the impossible. Now why the hell would he want to be a GM? Ever since then, what has the Flames done? First round exits. Its dumb. Who be's a coach, gets them into the Stanley cup finals and quits? Jesus.
