He beat it, but was told he had liver cancer the following year, which forced him to retire from coaching. He beat that too, but revealed in 2009 that he had cancer again, this time in his lungs. That's when Burns opted to forgo any more chemotherapy or other treatments. Can't blame him. Give him all the drugs he needs to make his final days quality days. |

HNIC did a piece on him during the playoffs and he didn't look well at all and could hardly speak. He's a fighter and always has been. |

Will always remember the great job he did for the Leafs back in the mid 90s. Those were the best years for the franchise since the cup win in 67 in my opinion. |

He was coach of the Canadiennes, the Leafs, the Bruins and the Devils. His lifetime record is 501-350-161-14 in 1019 games and is the only 3 time winner of the Jack Adams award, even winning it his first year as an NHL coach. He also coached in the QMJHL and the AHL. He was a great coach and he's always been a class act. |
