I have setup the site on a new VPS hosting service I signed up for. The site was hosted on my own server hardware collocated at a data centre in Vancouver. But the server is now 10 years old and clearly having major issues. So it was just easier to rent server space now and I'll go remove my server next month. The site should be MUCH more stable now! Some things might be broken, I'm slowly going through and making things work, the site was built for PHP 5.2 which is VERY old and no longer supported. Even the old PHP 5.6 has issues running the site, so I'm having to update some old code. The site should be pretty fast, I rented a decent server. But I have not optimized stuff much yet, it will get faster. The old server was a Windows server, the new one is Linux, so have to tweak some things. Sorry for the major site outages the past 2 months! I decided at the same time to close down one of my other sites http://politwitter.ca/ This greatly reduces the server resources and complexity needed in the new server. |

Canadaka Canadaka: The old server was a Windows server, the new one is Linux, so have to tweak some things. Finally! A proper upgrade!

I fixed some bugs with submitted News Links, works a bit better. But a super old system! I also removed some fluff around the site, side blocks and cleaned up the main menu a bit. I removed most the ads from the forum if you are a logged in user. |
