When the floods start again in Louisiana like they did this year, people will still stand up and say 'but we just rebuilt again after the last one!'. People won't smarten up, ever! After Katrina I posted recommendations to my internet friends who live there to not rebuild in the same location. Instead build on higher ground, somewhere that wouldn't flood even with a category 5 hurricane and all levies burst. My friends did. However, they work for NASA at the Michoud assembly facility on the coast of Louisiana. Perhaps not your average public. |

But how about the people in places like the 9th ward who can't afford to move to higher ground? I find it odd that the new criteria for a persons intelligence quotient is now dictated by their ability to pay. |

They should have gone back to school to get a better education and thus higher paying jobs. Basically it's their own lack of motivation that's putting them in danger. We hear that over and over again when discussing inequity, it applies in this case too. Why should the people who earn a decent income pay higher taxes for dams etc to help out these no counts? Everybody should just move to higher ground and get a better education. Or maybe it's the other way around. |

They should take better advantage of all the free shit they can get from the governments. It's not like they're white and get automatically disqualified from practically all assistance just because of their skin colour. Sheesh, grab a clue already.
