Quote of the day.......... :D

"Yep, for the eclipse we're gonna have two minutes of fireworks as soon as everything goes dark and there's nothin' to see." - manager of the Traders Mall in Reidland, KY.

Dang! I thought you were going to go to some place in the path of totality? :(

That was the plan but Mrs. Bart shit all over that idea. Seems she doesn't care about such things and so neither am I supposed to care.

She was pissed about the money I was going to spend "just to see it get dark??"

I was going to spend maybe $1500 on the trip.

Hate to say but we're hitting a rough patch after 30 years.

In any case, here's one of the best shots from the phone of what we saw here in Sacto:

That's unfortunate. :( One of the life changing events in my life was my first total eclipse. And second. And third. There is just something about being a witness to the Universe that changes you. Sorry to hear about the Mrs. too. :( Hopefully it's just a temporary thing.

Yea, that picture is about what we saw here too. Neat, but not ground shaking.

That may be true but right now when I'm home I find myself missing the peace and tranquility of Afghanistan.

I exposed as many people in peterborough as I could, was downtown with my glasses having people look at it, exposed a few kids to it and they were in awe. Hope I inspired a few today.

And don't worry Bartman, next one is only 7 years. More chances!

An annular eclipse in 6 years. Not a total eclipse, but not bad!

And another full eclipse in 2045. (and 2052)

Same here. 2024 in Newfoundland is likely for me. 2045 and 2052 are sort of pushing it for me, but not impossible. 2045 in the Dominican Republic sounds good too. [B-o]

Totally. I'm going there in two weeks and to go again and see an eclipse would be pretty cool.

I went down to Sapperton Landing this morning, had the #12 lenses and put together a small pinhole camera. Both worked out okay, but even with the Sun 90% eclipsed I could hardly see the difference......a nice place to be and overall a nice day but, as for the eclipse.....it was basically a bust!

That sounds serious Bart, I really hope things work out for both you and the trouble and strife.....
