Anyone who can’t make badic inferences from context whenever someone doesn’t use the precise technical term wouldn’t have made it to university.

And yet you complain when Bart and Martin read what they think you mean into your posts, and it gets everyone in trouble.

Now you double down by trying to insult me? Does that ever work out well for you? I've made a reputation around here by not insulting anyone. I'm not insulting you by saying that I read your posts EXACTLY as you write them.

If you want people to read what you actually think, then write it down that way. Otherwise we have to ask you questions to clairify what you meant.

How do you claim that I insulted you? That’s not what I wrote are you capable of interpreting after all?

Did you use Google Translate to translate this sentence from the original Western Frisian?

I hope so as if this was originally supposed to be English then it didn't really work.

Do you have any links to back up your claims that wind and solar are now cheaper and more versatile than fossil fuels? U.S. Freight railroad can transport one ton of freight 479 miles per gallon of fuel. How well can solar and wind stack up against that?

Yes I do.

The Cost of Renewable Energy Versus Fossil Fuels

https://www.naturespath.com/en-us/blog/ ... sil-fuels/

As for freight so far as I know all freight trains are diesel-electric. All that is really required is converting the diesel component to full electric. This change is already underway with electrically powered units being added to diesel units.

Leading The Charge: Battery-Electric Locomotives Will Be Pushing US Freight Trains Further

https://www.ge.com/reports/leading-char ... ht-trains/

Electric locomotives are already widely used in Europe and there is no reason why they could not be used in the US and Canada, especially if these two countries decide to modernize their rail systems with high speed rail.

I don't expect electric to replace diesel in areas outside Ontario or Quebec duie to a lack of population density, but they would work quite well in high population areas.

Green technology via solar power and possibly Tesla's battery system is decades from becoming a reality as our daily drivers for clean energy.

I did point out that the change would not happen overnight. Why should it? After all it took the internal combustion engine more than five decades to supplant animal power.

...the simple fact that wind and solar are now cheaper and more versatile than fossil fuels...

Bullshit.

Bullshit? You do realize that word does not provide a shred of evidence proving me wrong. Nor does the rest of your post. Let's take a look at some of your claims.

First, solar and wind depend upon oil, gas, and hydro as backup sources of power. They cannot provide power at all times and during peak hours. First, solar and wind depend upon oil, gas, and hydro as backup sources of power. They cannot provide power at all times and during peak hours.

Improved battery tech will solve the problem of energy storage. In fact batteries are currently being used at coal-fired power plants to provide instant power. Also, Keep in mind that the batteries of today are not going to be the batteries of the future. The lithium-ion battery revolutionized energy storage in the first two decades of the 21st Century and there is battery tech on the horizon that will result in even better energy storage. https://www.pocket-lint.com/gadgets/new ... er-the-air

Second, once you remove the subsidies for solar and wind and then tax those sources at the same rate that carbon fuels are taxed (the energy industry calls this 'leveling') then solar and wind are NOT cheaper.

Solar and wind no longer require subsidies. The tech has advanced to the point where its efficiency is so high it outperforms coal, oil, and nuclear. Not only that but the efficiencies of green tech are constantly improving while that of fossil fuels has pretty much peaked. https://www.forbes.com/sites/dominicdud ... 29ad094ff2

Also when you speak of subsidies it is the fossil fuel in industry that is most heavily heavily subsidized and it has been for decades.
https://www.carbonbrief.org/oecd-fossil ... llion-2015

We're also starting to discover that the cost of disposing of the massive carbon fiber windmill blades is going to eventually discourage the large windmills that currently blight much of the world.

Likewise, solar panels are not made from unicorn farts. They're typically very toxic and they're difficult to recycle...if at all.
3.

Compared to the pollution and environmental destruction created by the fossil fuel industry the impact on the environment is negligible. There are currently thousands of areas around the world that have been despoiled by the fossil fuel industry. So much damage has been done that it will probably take centuries for the environment to recover if not millennia.

Finally, in my initial post I did not include all of the advantages of green tech. If you so desire I will post those later in this thread.

I'm quietly waiting for the day when nuclear fusion becomes commercially viable. Hopefully ITER is get us closer to that reality. Harnessing the real power of the sun and stars would make renewables look quaint by comparison.

Oh come on dude. You must, by now, realize that when Bart gets on a roll he's operating one of these.
