Esks get a TD and 2-point convert and narrow the margin to 24 points - in the Riders favor.

Brandon Bridge and LaFrance come in for clean-up duty and in no time at all the Riders are back in the end zone via an nice little catch and extension by Duron.

54 - 31 Riders...........that's 54 to 31 for the Riders over the Eskimos........and that just rocks.

End of 1rst half in the Annual Labor Day Classic at Mosaic: RIDERS 34.........Bombers 13. Riders are firing on all cylinders today and were it not for the leg of Medlock, the score would be much lower. Bombers limited to 1 TD in the game so far.

ROCK THE FIELD RIDERS!!!!!!!

Welcome back.....people were getting concerned about what had happened to you, having not heard from you since the 25th of August, with all the fires eating up the country I think we were all concerned about your safety. Hope things are going good for you and family.

Thank you for your concern and good wishes, Hyack. Be assured that were we in dire straits I would do my best to let everyone know.

Here in Eagle Creek and over at Hawkins Lake all is well. The Hawkins Lake fire has been under control for sometime and crews are in the mopping up stage. Such is not the case for S Canim Lake where two different evacuation orders are in place after the Canim Lake fire broke through it's perimeter and started downhill towards homes and ranches. It saw some growth yesterday but is still quite a distance from any infrastructure. This time they are serious about enforcing the order as they have RCMP stationed at the turn-off to S Canim Road - lots of them. I stopped by on way home yesterday to inquire about a permit to drive around the area should we ever be put on evac again. When I first stopped, there was a single cruiser and two constables. During my talk with the nice young officer, Fred by name - from Kelowna, another cruiser pulled up with two more constables and then just as I was leaving a big black Escalade pulled up with yet more officers aboard. Considering that they didn't send a single constable out here when we were under evac, I had to wonder if something else was going on besides keeping people out of the area.

But that's just me.

The biggest concern right now, though not in terms of imminent danger to us out here but to friends living in the affected areas, is the Ashcroft Reserve fire aka Elephant Hill. I got my first look at it as I was driving into town yesterday prior to that, one had to go out of there way to get close enough to see it - not any longer. As I was rounding a curve the view across the valley opened up and behind the farthest ridge to the East, there it was. Numerous columns of smoke forming an almost solid wall rising hundreds of meters into the sky finally passing out of sight as it melded into the lowering cloud cover. It stretched as far as the eye could see to south and almost as far to the north. Closer to the ridge you could see the smoke roiling from the strong gusty winds that blew all day and changed direction several times. It reached Sheridan Lake but have not read of any structural damage yet. It was only 2Ks from Green Lake last night. It is now mapped at 180,800 Hectares and still extremely active. Efforts to control this monster won't be helped by the winds which were calm all day but are now picking up.

We are still on alert and will probably remain that way until the Provincial Emergency is rescinded. With fire conditions still perilous staying on alert makes good sense. So, life goes on but many of us don't stray to far from home especially those of us who would stay behind in the face of an evac unless the flames were licking at our doors.............well maybe not that close but much closer than the last time. Were an order to come down while we were away we couldn't get back in again.

BTW, the Riders won today. 38 - 24. It was a grand Labor Day Classic.

I'm amazed that this is the same team we watched at the beginning of the season. My brother had heard that some NFL head coach who was a fan of the CFL had said the Riders had all the pieces to be a top team but they needed to do was gel. Well from what we've seen the last couple of weeks he just might have been right because this team is playing light years above the gong show we witnessed earlier.

Maybe Jones will actually survive the wrath of the Rider fans after all and now that he knows the cauldron he's put himself in he'll be better prepared for the fallout if this team under achieves.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned or..............a pissed off Rider fan. [cheer]

I don't know how Jones did it Freakin' but the fact that he has turned this team into believers is truly something to celebrate. If I have any lingering doubts they lie in the fact that the Riders tend to let their foot off the gas once they have a lead. They need to play hard for the entire game and never let up. I'm looking forward to the Banjo Bowl next weekend and truly hope that our Riders come out victorious. Apparently the game is already sold out.

Wow. After a rough start to the season both Winnipeg and Saskatchewan are coming on strong.

I've gone from wondering who will end up being the crossover team to hoping like hell BC can be the one. The points difference between the east and west divisions is so bizarre this season.

Given the strength of the west and weakness in the east this year I wouldn't mind the Riders being the cross over team. It'd be one hell of alot easier getting to the dance through Ottawa and either TO or Montreal than through Calgary, Winnipeg or Edmonton.

As for BC, they'd better keep starting Lulay because, if Wally loses his mind and sticks with Jennings chances of them making the playoffs, even as the crossover go from possible to wow what just happened?

Lulay goes out on the 2nd play of the game. Jennings and the boys manage to score 8 points in the 1st Q, the first scoring in the first Q in 4 games. Take a 26-3 lead into the 2nd half thanks to a blocked Fg by the Lions, resulting in a BC TD with 1 second left in the 1st half.

Lions win their 6th game of the season 41-18 over Montreal.

We had almost considered going to the game tonight but decided to go to our local pub to watch it instead.

Good to see the win tonight. We need every one we can get if we want to ensure we make the playoffs.

Hopefully Lulay's injury isn't serious.
