Canadian Olympic Team

CTV Olympics

Olympic.org - Official website of the Olympic Movement

Official London 2012 website

After the 2010 Vancouver Olympics where we won the most Gold medals of any host city I hope we can do just as well in these games. No matter what else, I know our athletes will be giving their all, as they do for each and every event.......

Go Canada! Try not to get involved in any of the impending firefights between the British army and the local Muslims too!

With news that most of the security staffing was franchised out to McDonald's, accompanied with a comensurate rate of pay, and that the border security people might be staging a walk-out, if the balloon was destined to go up at the Olympics one day then London'll be the place that it happens.

Hopefully the squaddies have been pre-allowed to shoot to kill when Mohammed, Mohammed, and Akbar decide to act up instead of getting the usual command to play nice that they seem to always receive from the average post-Thatcher British politician and police commander.

It would be nice if there was an event where an Argentine were to meet a Falkand Islander. I'd love to see it.

Some day I hope we actually send our best athletes, right now we're just sending the best, who's parents have the cash to allow their kids the opportunity to train 6 or 8 hours a day instead of having to go work that part time job at Earls, to help themselves get through Uni.

We have a lazy funding system, win a Medal then you become a carded athlete and here's your cash.

Some how we have to get the money to the kids that are gifted athletes at 16 or 18 years old, but have to drop out of sports because it's either University or sports because they can't afford both.

Our team that is in London have all earned their opportunity to participate, and will work hard to do their best, we'll cheer them on. I just don't want to hear from that athlete that finishes 39th out 40 in the heptathlon and hear them say I just came here to enjoy the experience.

I'd like to see what the ghetto kid can do, the ghetto kid that has to shoplift a couple of porkchops from the market to help feed his family, the ghetto kid that can run through the hood climbing fences, jumping from roof top to roof top, sprinting down back alleys to get those porkchops home before the fly's fly off with them there chops.

That's just an example, lots of middle class kids are in the same boat, I'm sure.

R=UP

I'd like to see more balanced funding too - I'd like to see more corporate funding, as well as better provincial/federal funding of athletes.
