Thanos Thanos:
Ehhhh, it's no big deal in the greater scheme of things. In a sport where it's a high likelihood that practically all of the performers are dopers I'm not sure what the big moral outrage is anyway. It's a failure on the part of sports in general that they feel the need to cheat in order to win, and then to suck up all the big money prizes and endorsements afterwards.

There's entire sectors of human activity, such as the financial and political arenas, where cheating is openly encouraged in order to succeed. The antics of some guy riding his bike across France once a year pale in comparison to the real-time damage these other genuinely dirty players end up doing to practically the entire world.

They COULD strip him off his Tour titles.

He passed all his drug tests. This shit is ridiculous.

To me this topic is not so much about cycling as it is about a vindictive bunch of prosecutors with too much bloody time on their hands.

What's 'vindictive' about it? The guy admitted to taking PEDs which is clearly not acceptable in any sport. Not only that, the LYING SACK OF SHIT held himself up to the whole world as some kind of hero!

Chatter has it he 'admitted' doping as part of a deal to prevent a criminal prosecution. That's the same deal his team mates were given to avoid the threat of Federal prison time.

I dare say you'd 'admit' to doping given such a choice.

It's a cornspiracy. He can't be guilty, even when everybody around him was using drugs. No, wait, they weren't using drugs, that's another part of the cornspiracy.

Here's the rub that has been used on several athletes in the USA:

They get accused of using drugs that can't be detected by known testing methods. That the drugs were NOT detected is then used as proof that the drugs were used. Then, when the drug charge itself collapses in court for the obvious lack of evidence, then the athlete is threatened with Federal prosecution for perjury. Which is circular logic based on the assumption that a charge that has already been dismissed was, in fact, sustained and that any denials of the charge are then perjury.

This is a time-honored prosecution tactic in North America.

And his admission means nothing,I know. If he admitted using drugs to avoid prosecution, there would be an official deal to that effect. There isn't. You're just grasping at straws here.

so THAT's why he went on Oprah and not to the DA's office or the World Anti Doping Agency. Sure, makes sense.

There was no 'official deal' with his team mates, either. Yet the fact that all prosecution efforts against them coincidentally ended indicates that there was.
