Now when I first saw it, my reaction was much the same as pretty much everyone else it seems, "ugly", "a two year old did it right?", "please tell me no one paid for that" etc etc.

After having it pointed out to me by a poster at SDA, I think I know the real reason the majority of folks detest this thing, it looks like a swastika!!

I didn't see that in it, but if you told me it was a gay Camel, I would say: Yep, you're right! 8O

yeah i would lean towards the gay camal to....fuck a two year old could have done better then that.
A internatonal city like London and thats the best they could come up with.....fuck they could have done something like a bowler hat turned upside down with bikes racing around the brim of it ...like the velodrome.

Just think Brenda. Someone got paid for that...............

I wonder if the London organizing committee realizes that they have to sell stuff with that logo on it? I don't see people lining up to spend $50 on a t-shirt with that on it.

WHY would gay people want their own Olympics anyway? I thought they wanted to be treated like "anyone else"?

But, their logo is way better!

Say what you will about this logo, but in terms of emblazoning important things with childish crap, the Canadian September 1999 quarter set the bar pretty low:

Usually the olympic logo has a meaning to it, what is the meaning for this one?

And what was it commemorating, hurley?

The turnover from 1999 to 2000? I'm not sure I understand the question. In '99 and '00 the mint put out a new quarter every month, based on designs submitted from the public. The other 23 were highly worthy of being struck on a major piece of Canadiana. This one, to me, was an embarassment.

At least hurley's example was probably done by an actual child. Not taking any bets on it though ;)

I never understood why we have an inukshuk for our games considering it is an Inuit symbol not an Indian one. Although at least it is something I suppose I'm not sure what that London one is.

I liked our original logo better though.
