I just don't understand this shit. They cut everything and then give the most fucked up government organization a raise. I'm just glad I do not live in Quebec.

Funny that the cuts seem aimed at things the PQ probably goaded and guilted the Liberals into over-financing. No cuts to universities though or increases in tuition. They're smart enough not to harm the reliable assembly line that the future generation of worthless Marxist/separatist slime are coming from. Obviously though most of the cuts are aimed at things that were probably supported by non-PQ'ers, so overall it's just the PQ protecting their buddies and supporters while screwing over everyone else. I'd like to think Quebecers would pay attention to this but the politics in that place are so fucked up and rotten that there's probably nothing that can be done.

A scene from Montreal last summer. We're the future, we're YOUR future!

I'm all in favor of cutting government spending, but not in health care and education. As for the language police, considering the scope of the deficit, the logical solution would not be to increase funding for the language police, but to scrap the organization entirely. It provides no financial gain whatsoever. As we all know, business comes before pleasure, and managing the deficit should be the priority. The solution here is to have "QUALIFIED" individuals that understand the economics required to produce a responsible budget that does focus on the economy. Is it that hard to find competent individuals who know economics? By this I mean senior economists possessing an economics degree from say Harvard, or the London School of Economics. The Quebec government should recruit some of these individuals to help with their budgets.

EDIT: Fix typo (replace Hardvard with Harvard and posessing with possessing)

Or a really good faculty of economics instead.

And this is the party that wants to lead Quebec to independence ? Quebec is sitting on a shitload of natural resources in the north that could make it rich. Instead they cut social programs and increase spending on cracking down on English ?

Like watching kids play store.

Yeah, that's really going to help solve a $3.3 billion deficit: making token cuts to small programs, large cuts to important programs and increasing the funds to your fascist program. Makes McGiunty's screw ups in Ontario almost seem pale by comparison (I said almost!).

Actually, yes they are cutting in Universities. About 120 millions, retroactive, for the budget year 2012-2013.

So, they froze the increase in tuition fees for underfinanced Universities, gave more loans and grants to the students PLUS they are cutting money to the same underfinanced Universities retroactively at the end of the budget year.

Really, the PQ seems to like their citizens when they are ignorants.

What's funny is that the new minister of finance has a Ph.D in Economics. So I guess he knows he's doing wrong. But ideology is more important than reality for the separatists.

Waits with bated breath for the next round of demands for increased equalization payments to arrive from Quebec City.

Shouldn't that be 'baited breath'. :D

Wonder if Ottawa will rise to the bait and then ignore.

They already came around asking last month demanding more in equalization payments claiming they're owed an extra 15 billion. Flaherty told them to get stuffed.

Well given that people who study economics can't agree with each other on the best methods I'm not sure your solution would turn out to be as easy as hiring someone with a degree and putting them in charge.
