Is that really something to be proud of?

Cleanest city, safest city, friendliest city, maybe, but 4th largest. I guess the guy who wrote the article spent alot of time in the mens shower rooms comparing city sizes.

We do live in a "bigger is better" world.

Toronto has nothing else to brag about, including the Leafs.

I've been in TO ten times in the last five years. I absolutely loath the place.

No thanks. 700K is big enough for me.

Having lived in one of the most densely populated places on earth I'll take a rural area with easy access to urban centres. Even in Vancouver there are parts of the city that feel downright country compared to the cities of the Third World. Had enough of traffic and pollution....overheard people at the HSC in Winnipeg complaining about rush hour last Friday and I had to chuckle.

I hear that - but the last time I was in Toronto, it didn't feel all that different from Edmonton to me.

There might have been more people, but all in all, it didn't seem all that different. A couple dozen tall buildings, surrounded by acres and acres of suburban housing, all serviced by the same stores and restaurants.

That's similar to the relationship between Winnipeg and Regina. Some in the former like to look down on the latter but I've found one is just a larger version of the other.

Hell, I live near North Bay and do most of my shopping there. When I go to Sudbury it feels too busy. Toronto? You can keep it, man. It's sometimes a necessity to go there, or go through there, but I can't identify with anyone who likes to live in a large city with the crowds, the noise and the traffic.

I like my city. While I find that all other big cities look the same, Québec City is just... different. You want to punish me, send me to Toronto... or any other big city. I was miserable in Montreal. :D

Eh, Toronto still feels like the poor man's NYC to me. :P

Similar things can be said of many 'older' North American cities. Unfortunately cities worldwide are losing their local flavours and becoming homogeneous....steel and glass towers replacing older edifices.... with all the same kind of stores and eateries
