Yep. Broke his own word about not making exemptions, pissed off the other techs who have to play by the rules. And this all just seems like a ploy to get in foreigners to make it easier for them to eventually move to the US, where they have stricter rules about this sort of bullshit. What is it about Canadian politicians that they are so eager to sell out Canadians? Just typical banana republic thinking, I guess. We should substitute a banana for the maple leaf on our flag.

Immigration is wonderful.

Say it over and over until you believe it. :|

What pisses me off is there are plenty of good techs looking for work, and the Temporary Foreign Worker program was supposed to fill positions that Canadians could not.

Yes, but those uppity Canadian techs probably demand a reasonable salary, especially living in Vancouver.

BTW, the tech I was talking about above are the tech companies. They should launch a lawsuit about uneven playing field.

It can be. None of us would be here if it weren't. The point is to manage it properly, for the greatest benefit of current citizens, not just flood the country year after year, no matter what. Or turn a blind eye to illegals, basically re-creating the slave system in a modern fashion.

Yes, like the Subway manger in Pictou, Nova Scotia.

Highly technical, that job.

The TFW program should be canceled, everyone sent home.

No, there are times we need foreign workers. For temp jobs like agriculture, say. Or for highly specialized jobs - entertainment, academics, etc. Where it went wrong is just opening the flood gates so a Timmie's owner can make even more profit than the 250k he does now. Buying into the bullshit there are jobs that Canadians won't do, when the truth is there are jobs Canadians won't do for shit wages.

You're right. I'm referring to the current state of immigration policies in the Western nations. Our current immigration policies are suicidal.

I imagine what if the native Americans had welcomed the Europeans and kept opening up new places for the Europeans to settle. And then modified their culture and language to accommodate the Europeans. And then ignored the crimes the new immigrants committed against them. And finally ignored the facts of demographics where the Europeans would eventually displace the natives from their lands.

Because that bit of nonsense is exactly what our current immigration policies look like.

No, you don't. Canada has plenty of people who need jobs and can be trained to perform them in short order.

After all, it wasn't really all that long ago that Canadian housewives turned out in droves to help build ships, aircraft, guns, and tanks for WW2. If they can learn a trade in short order then so can anyone else.

You going to train a movie star or top PhD in his field in short order? Agricultural workers, that I mentioned don't need training. But they also don't have jobs half the year or more - we do have to import those. We should just not be exploiting them to the degree we do, give them better worker protection.

YOu really should try harder to read and understand what I write.
