I know a little bit about the Mitsubishi MU-2; it had a terrible accident rate in the USA until the FAA mandated a specific type rating. I do not know if Canada has a simmilar requirement.

Seems to have had more to do with weather. The investigators couldn't even get there right away because of it.

I believe this is where they found Abby Hoffman.

Very sad story. I feel for the mother; her husband dies, now she loses all her kids on the way to the funeral. :(

A pilot should be able to either land a plane in foul weather or divert to a different airport; weather is not the root cause of most accidents.

Poor judgement has a lot to do with most air crashes these days.

Agreed, but that doesn't indict the plane he was flying.

As it happens, this particular aircraft is US registered. Note the tail #
