Invasive species are always a problem. With the estimates they have on the number of these pythons it may be too late to turn things around there. |

I went to university in Florida and pythons were a popular dorm room pet because all the dude-bros thought feeding it live mice was like, totally awesome and badass dude. They should just ban these things from pet stores. |

They should just ban these things from pet stores. I really think it's too late for that now....they are definitely reproducing at a prodigious rate all by themselves! |

It's the same problem as with feral pigs and wild boars set free across western Canada and down in the southern States. They are breeding in the wild and really they have no predators. |

Brings to mind the introduction of 100 Starlings set loose in New York's Central Park in the early 1890s. The birds were intentionally released by a group who wanted America to have all the birds that Shakespeare ever mentioned. Today, more than 200 million European Starlings range from Alaska to Mexico.....thanks a lot..... $1: The European starling was purposefully introduced to North America in 1890–1891 by the American Acclimatization Society, an organization dedicated to introducing European flora and fauna into North America for cultural and economic reasons. Eugene Schieffelin, chairman at the time, allegedly decided all birds mentioned by William Shakespeare should be in North America. The bird had been mentioned in Henry IV, Part 1, and a hundred of them were released from New York's Central Park.

Why would anybody keep a large snake in their house? I can't help shaking my head while reading this thread. |
