All kidding aside I read the article. If the same happens here wonder how the government is going to explain that high a lose when they said this would help the economy as people would have more money to spend. Not everyone is going to go on a spending spree that includes restaurants or whatever else they think people are wanting

Sorry, what's that? Capitalism can't provide a decent living for it's working class without collapsing? :o

There's a great author who wrote a lot about that sorta thing, can't remember his name right now but boy, was he ahead of his time

Meanwhile in the Worker's Socialist Paradise of Venezuela:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation- ... 72104.html

$1:
With Venezuela in chaos, asylum petitions have tripled. Most seek refuge in U.S.

BOGOTA, Colombia —

The number of Venezuelans seeking asylum tripled from 2015 to 2016, as the once-wealthy nation continues to be trapped in a punishing economic, social and political crisis.

Seems that as bad as capitalism is it's still a whole fuckload better than the nightmare of socialism that you'd impose on the US and Canada if you had your way.

Also I like how the article refers to Venezuela as a 'once wealthy' nation. Just goes to show that if your nation is prosperous and wealthy that socialism can fix that for you.

Then there's North Korea.

It's also worth noting that even the sort of "Democratic Socialism" people like Bernie Sanders claim to favor can only exist on the back of Capitalism.

While we tremble under the bed heeding the warnings of who can't distinguish between 'democratic socialism' and their examples of N Korea and Venezuela.
OMG my Teenburger might go up 25c but the kid making it might give enough of a shit for his job he'll get the order right!

Hang on...who's that, herb? It sure as Hell isn't me. If it was, the quote wouldn't read "even the sort of "Democratic Socialism" people like Bernie Sanders claim to favor." Did you catch the qualifier "EVEN"?

To the rational mind that would suggest a difference between outright communist countries and Democratic Socialist countries such as some of those in the EU, which are only able to exist on the back of Capitalism. Get it? Or will you need pictures?

No one gives a shit about their minimum wage job because they can earn that rate anywhere.

Pay them significantly more than the minimum like In-N-Out Burger does and they're committed because they can't just go get another job for the same money.

And unscrupulous employers are still going to hire illegal aliens for $5 an hour. :|

Meanwhile there's fucking Brazil and the smattering of countries ruined with American coups and austarity. Look at Africa. Why do the wonders of capitalism not happen in capitalist Africa? Where is the capitalist utopia in our capitalist world other than just in the West? Perhaps after centuries of robbing the rest of the world there's just not much left for the others to fight over.

People running from third world countries doesn't shock me. But often when these folks get to America and these Western countries, they realize they were sold a few lies along the way. Like North Koreans going to South Korea to get a treatment that isn't possible in North Korea and finding out health and life is an extremely expensive commodity in market-worshipping nations, and also finding out South Korea is the one who won't let you return home.

I will die before I am 50, Bart, and you will die long after 80.

You just reminded me of an old National Lampoon comic "Illegal Aliens From Outer Space" ... they arrive in saucers with mattresses tied on the roofs... Americans are protesting holding signs "Two arms, two arms!" because they can sling burgers faster with their 4 tentacles...

They have to pay the same rated up here. The TFWs at the local Subway, KFC and Timmies get about $12 an hour, almost $2 above minimum. They can't even attract teens or retirees to work for that.
A retired mayor and bank manager work at the grocery for the paltry wages just for pin money and something to do. But they're 'leave me out of the corporate team building bullshit' and management politics, please.

If you die before you turn 50 it'll be your own damned fault.

Seriously, I wish you'd knock it off with this bullshit basement revolutionary thing of yours and apply yourself. Get an education, get a decent job, and make something of yourself so that maybe you'd envision living to a ripe old age.

You're probably the person on this site who frustrates me the most. You're clearly intelligent, you're naturally curious, and you're engaged. Yet for some reason there's something in your head that's convinced you you're a loser who can't accomplish anything.

Not knowing you outside of this site my default advice is to encourage you to join the military because the military excels at developing people into more than they thought they were. They'll teach you to look at obstacles in life not as permanent barriers but as mere problems that some thinking and applied strategy will easily overcome. And that's a life skill you really need.
