Unfortunately I don't think this change in penalties is going to change anyone's behaviour with their cellphone useage. All it means is more out of their pocket when and if they are finally caught, charged and found guilty.

It's a start thought. Perhaps if they start paying too much for distracted driving, they won't be able to afford a cellphone.

I also find more often these days you have to watch out for those who are distracted walkers. Whether walking on a sidewalk or in a store I find myself dodging people who cannot walk a straight line because they are too busy looking down at their phones texting or surfing.

All to true, people walking into windows, doors, poles and even pools, I've seen people actually stop in the middle of a crosswalk while talking on their cellphones .....

When I see somebody walking towards me looking at their phone, I just stop and brace for impact... the best is when their phone goes flying.

I usually am polite and hold doors open for people, but I've taken to actively closing doors on people if they are talking on their phones.

They weren't going to thank me anyhow, and I find that extremely rude.
