We should all expect the Senior Police officials resignation on the desks of those they report to in the morning.

Going to be a good year for advancement in Canadian police forces! You don't make the laws, you enforce them. If you cannot do so, Canada will find those who can.

No wonder our allies don't trust us...

I don't get what's so complicated here for the police? [huh]

"Legalized" means you don't arrest, detain, beat, or shoot people for something anymore.

Oh....wait...

I can't even imagine the lengths that the RCMP and their surrogates would go to try and usurp this law. I think what they need the time for is to determine what other rabbit they can chase in place of the multi-billion dollar goose egg to fight weed.

The law is going forward, Canadians voted for this law to change. Like it or lump it, the people have spoken. Whether Canadian or American campaign promises, one cannot be angry about something democratically voted on.

yet the second other laws are introduced, they don't seem to be too upset about 'being ready' do they?

It would be completely uncomplicated a process to build if they kept the greedy governments out of it altogether, who are only involved so they can load up on tax revenues. Look at what Ontario's proposed, a system so awful and unenjoyable both for the customer and the retailer that it makes the grey old days of lining up outside the GUM store in Soviet Moscow look like fun in comparison.

There won't be single illicit dealer or grower that leaves the black market to do it legally, not with the way the governments are wrecking the entire process of setting up a marketing and sales system. Fucking idiotic beyond belief, but that's the way things are done in this country far too often.

My only concern is if there are methods to go about determining if a motor vehicle operator is under the influence, either roadside or compulsory lab testing. If so, I don't see what the issue is. If not, it shouldn't take more than a year to come up with a temporary measure until a more suitable long term solution can be found.

Either way, quit fucking stonewalling. Some folks want to get stoned. I don't, but I believe people should have that right free of consequence.

I think Ontario wants to perpetuate the poor service and selection that is the LCBO, and mirror that ineptitude on Weed. (and I remember the lines in Stalingrad, Leningrad and Moscow! 8O )

I'm not a Klein fanboi, but when I walk into one of the new liquor stores and see a place nearly as big as a Superstore with an entire aisle of Whisky, one one of Rum, one of Tequila . . . and nearly two dozen of wines . . .I shed a small tear for the gift he gave of privatizing the ALCB.

Yup. It might have been one of the few things the Klein Tories did correctly but it's a beyond-huge improvement over what existed before. This is where the capitalists are correct about seeping socialism, like the taxpayer was obligated to provide a $20/hour wage and a pension to someone who sold beer in a store.

No one I've talked to about this issue is going to have anything to do with a government-supervised or operated marijuana sales system. They're all either growing their own (and will continue to do so) or have connections with dealers they trust. Legalization is the right thing to do but being Canada you can absolutely guarantee that there's one federal and thirteen provincial/territorial governments that are going to make an absolute and total botch of whatever inefficient, top-heavy, and over-priced system they end up creating. The illegal dealers aren't going to lose a penny from legalization, and all because (if Wynne-bag in Ontario is typical of the politicians) the government simply can't keep itself from doing something stupid.

I agree with you there, the gubmint will botch it if they have to deliver the end product. I don't care much for weed, but I do care the violence the drug trade carries with it.

There is a gigantic greenhouse for growing and distributing marijuana near the Edmonton airport, and I don't think it's solely for the medical variety. I suspect they built in not just on the premise that pot would be legalized, but that it would be distributed through a similar system as liquor. And they most likely had a little birdie tell them that it'll be purchased and distributed from a government entity, but the free market will determine the quality and variety of the product.

There's probably a lot of libertarian-minded pot-heads who are already think that they'd rather give their money to an honest gangster dealer than to a government that will collect taxes off of sales and distribution and "just give all the money to Quebec".

I could see that. But being a Libertarian with a trust issue, I wouldn't put too much faith that the weed nowadays isn't contaminated with fentanyl, or worse that W-18 shit.

I'd just get myself a little appliance, and grow my own.

I'm not really interested in its recreational use and I hate the smell of it. However I am interested in its analgesic properties. Id rather 'consume' it than smoke it and have an effective natural pain killer without the side effects of opiates.

I've been doing edibles based on an oil concentrate off and on lately precisely because I can't smoke without coughing and gagging. Lemme tell ya, it's a real treat. I don't think there's any massive pain killing properties involved like with an opiate but the overall relaxation effect that's involved can't be under estimated or under rated.

No kidding at all. If these powerful strains had been available back in the 1980s the way they are now I never would have bothered with alcohol and endured any of its negative side effects.

For me the pain is the source of stress, so I don't know if it'd work for me. I want to function 'normally' without any cognitive impairment. I've known a few teachers that used to scarf down Valium like it was candy before class to deal with their anxiety. They were a bit too relaxed. If relaxation is its main effect, that sounds like something I'd eat before bed.
