$1:
"Having seen first-hand how complex and difficult that job is," he wrote, "I believe it vital that the President be able to focus on his never-ending tasks with as few distractions as possible." He acknowledged that blocking litigation would suggest the President was "above the law," but he added that "the point is not to put the President above the law or to eliminate checks on the President, but simply to defer litigation and investigations until the President is out of office."

Although a lot are freaking out about Roe v Wade, it seems like his opinion is that it's already been decided on and wouldn't want it re-done. So that's a positive.

In Quebec french media (aka. The Dome), they are already saying that abortion is going to be outlawed in a VERY near future...

That seems pretty sensationalist to me. There is nothing to suggest that in anything he's said. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but there isn't any evidence for it.

If a majority of those corporate hack poster boys already on the Court agree with this sentiment then this is the largest step since 1933 in Germany that any country will have taken to enshrining the fuhrerprinzip into constitutional law with an explicit pronouncement that the will of the leader is above all written law and the entire apparatus of the state will be bent towards the satisfaction of that will. At it's weakest this means a president can be as corrupt as he wants and be completely unaccountable for it until after his term is over, which means nothing because his successor will just pre-emptively pardon him anyway. Or he resigns a couple of months prior to the new administration coming in, his vice-president takes over as a lame duck, and grants the pardon.

At it's worst it confers upon the president all the powers of a king. The impeachment threat is permanently neutered because NOTHING is a crime if a president does it, as per Nixon's belief. This wedges the door open permanently to the enshrining that the president can do anything he wants, anytime he wants, to anyone he wants, and anywhere across the world. From "merely" being an active partner to a gangster foreign government, like the one in Russia, to engaging in a genocide or undeclared war anywhere in the world in the name of "national security", without any legal prohibition upon him and without any single part of the state able to contain/impede/quarantine his desires.

The republic is over. A corporate empire has begun. The United States we've known throughout our entire lifetimes is gone forever. :|

$1:
Kavanaugh has stated that he considers Roe v. Wade binding under the principle of stare decisis and would seek to uphold it,[23] but has also ruled in favor of some restrictions for abortion.[24][25][26]

In May 2006, Kavanaugh stated he "would follow Roe v. Wade faithfully and fully" and that the issue of the legality of abortion has already "been decided by the Supreme Court".[23] During the hearing, he stated that a right to an abortion has been found "many times", citing Planned Parenthood v. Casey.[23]

He said this 12 years ago.

Anyone who says Kavanaugh will reopen Roe v Wade...... is lying to you.

Media, politicians, your FB friends, every alt left Dummycrat.

Trump also said, in most of his interviews over the previous thirty years, that he too supported Roe. Then in the election campaign he said that any woman who had an abortion should be legally punished in some manner. Just another reminder that to the extremist right-wing there is no previous statement or opinion that can't be tossed down the memory hole in order to keep the base content.

This guy has an interesting theory.

Basically he suggests Trump head-faked the permanently outraged into thinking an abortion judge is coming.

A nominee is named but abortion is not really Kavanaugh's thing. It is too late for the leftist outrage machine to figure that out though. They've already released their reaction like a Kraken. They do what they do in protest of the abortion judge (except he isn't.)

Eventually the furor dies down. Reason returns. We only remember the left looking ridiculous.

I heard a bunch of them were sweating to death in Arizona dressed up like the characters from A Handmaid's Tale. Image

Trump has no intention of over turning Roe vs Wade but that doesn't mean he can't have some fun with the Unhinged Left.

I was hoping Trump would nominate Sarah Palin just so no end of liberal maniacs would completely lose their minds.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. We have to take him at his word if he's never said anything different.
