Just another problem that PM Sunnydaze and his cabal of suplicants forgot about in their madcap rushed to legalize pot. I'm actually surprised that the Americans haven't mentioned the fact that we've broken numerous treaties by doing this but, I'm sure at some point Trump will bring it up much like he's brought up the facts that we're dumping cheap Chinese steel in the US and failing to honour our commitment to double our defense spending.

This is going to end badly for the citizens of one country and I'm pretty sure it won't be the US. :x

Sounds reasonable, to those whom Gilead is something they're aspiring to.

Its a plant. A plant that has not resulted in a single overdose death ever. It never should have been illegal in the first place. Nothing, and I do mean nothing is going to stop the full legalization of weed in the states. There is too much money involved. We just passed the one year mark for legalization and the state is breaking sales records for all the states that have legalized. We have 24 hour dispensaries with drive through windows. We have home delivery services. We have amnesty drop boxes at the airport for travelers returning home. The state is already moving on with plans for smoking lounges in the hotels and stand alone hookah lounges where you can smoke and socialize in public. No one is going to give up this new found wealth, treaties be damned. All the cannabis is harvested in the state, creating even more jobs. Our breeders are creating new world class cannabis strains that anyone would be proud to own. Higher concentrations, shorter grow and harvest times. Plants bred for specific ailments like pain, depression, anxiety, loss of appetite, PSTD, insomnia, seizures, etc. I am talking about the cutting edge of botany here. This aint no Mexican dirt weed, this is genuine made in America ass kicking cannabis! Talk about making America great again! This is what we should be exporting.

Canada was right to legalize at the federal level. That is how it should be done. It is what Obama should have done. Everything that he accomplished in office is being erased. Soon it will be like he was never there at all. He could have taken weed off of schedule 1 early in his first term. So many people would have been making so much money by the end of his term that no one would ever bring up the topic of prohibition again. He would actually have a legacy that could not be erased. The states will get to full legalization one day. Too bad that many more lives and careers will still be ruined in the meantime. Until then all international weed conventions/conferences should be held in Canada to prevent these border bozos from getting their rocks off playing Dick Tracy.

Quite the post rickc.

It's unfortunate that in the USA on a Federal level it is illegal despite so many states allowing the sale of it legally. I honestly cannot see this changing anytime soon, certainly not under Trump's watch.

I don't care if it's a plant, animal or something from another planet. The fact of the matter is that the US has every right to stop anyone who's associated with the growing, selling or taking of the drug from entering their country just like Canada has every right to legalize it.

This isn't about personal choice yours, mine or anyone else's. It's about a complete lack of foresight and understanding by the Canadian Gov't who, for some bizarre reason ignored or just forgot about the ramifications from the US and likely other signatory countries when they legalized it.

For a Federal law this is one of the most poorly thought out ever and if you don't believe me just look at how it's being administered. The liberals signed the paper legalizing it and then washed their hands of everything but the taking in of an obscene amount of the tax revenue for doing no work. They made the provinces responsible for policing and administrating it so, consequently we have a Federal Law being administered by each individual province with no set guidelines or regulations which means that what you do in Quebec may just get you arrested in BC or any of the other provinces. ROTFL

So sure, let's talk about how this is so wonderful and forget the fact that it's legalization has been a cluster from day one and is likely to continue till the Federal Gov't steps back in and starts doing their job which, should be to standardize the whole system and deal with all issues with foreign countries that are still honouring their UN Drug Control Treaties.

I would rep you if I could FOG.

You missed one word in your post though. the word f*ck should have followed "cluster" in your 4th paragraph.

It's a big mess for sure and I live in a city where council has decided not to have anything to do with any of it, regardless of the provincial and federal decisions. The whole "as of July 1st" thing is now an October thing an who knows when it will actually become what it was supposed to be when Justin made this campaign promise. It's freaking ridiculous, just as I knew it would be.

I'm for its legalization, as it *should* reduce some of the burden on the courts, and disrupt some of organized crime's operations. That said, this law is pretty haphazardly implemented, I think the liberals were so focused on keeping this "promise" that they failed to understand any unintended consequences, such as this one.

Easiest way to not get a lifetime ban from the States is to either:

a. Not smoke weed, or;
b. pay only cash for it, and ensure you don't have any online presence regarding weed.

It sucks if you smoke weed, but as mentioned before... The States are a sovereign nation not beholden to the thoughts or opinions of Canada or its people.

Smoke at your own risk.

The US also has a long history of ignoring what is legal in one country, because it is illegal in theirs. Trading with or vacationing in Cuba for example.

Their country, their rules.

My point exactly. It's early. I'm just having my morning coffee.

No one has a right to enter our country. Oh, and your derangement is starting to become less entertaining and more disturbing.

What will your response be, BTW, the when American krystalnacht or the inevitable Reichstage fire finally happens? Opposition? Indifference? Acceptance? Merry participation?

You're bitching about Trudeau breaking treaties with the cheeto throwing everything out the window? Why the fuck should we care what they think anymore?

Also, this is nonsense, considering it's legal or decriminalized in 22 of their own states. Aren't they also breaking treaties?

Quite telling that American right-wingers suddenly don't talk too much on state rights when the states make a decision, like legalization, that runs counter to right-wing ideology. Doubt there's too many MAGA's that will protest too loudly if Sessions and Trump sent the ATF into all the pot shops in Colorado or Washington and sent all the store staff to indefinite detention in internment campst in the desert.
