Exactly! They never hang, behead or crucify anyone.

Hardly ever.

Well, this month.

So far.

I think Canada is about to get a little backup vs the Saudi prince.

Let it be noted: Trump and Kushner love this Saudi despot and refuse to condemn him

Trump's comments in the Oval Office yesterday were not quite so conciliatory. The possibility that the US would cancel arms orders and end joint operations in Yemen was raised and Trump deflected the subject instead of dismissing it.

Meaning that those possibilities are still possibilities.

Now if Justin Trudeau has any sense of strategy he'd quickly move to convince Trump to join Canada in opposing the Saudi regime. This is Trudeau's moment to truly lead on a foreign affairs issue.

Canada 'clear, strong' with Saudis on importance of human rights, PM says
$1:
The prime minister also says Canada has "serious issues" around reports about the disappearance of U.S. journalist Jamal Khashoggi, although he says there is still more to learn before he'll comment further.

So wait and see in other words.

Hmm, no.

Trump literally said at the 30 second mark, "I oppose, would not be in favour of stopping a country from spending $110 billion..."

He repeatedly takes the arms deal off the table in favour of "other things" whatever that maybe.

On this we agree, but I doubt it. We're still stinging from getting left swinging in the wind back in August by our 'allies'.

I'd argue Turkey isn't exactly the bastion of honesty and morality either, and it's prudent that we confirm the existence of said video and audio.

Sometimes there is no good-guy in a fight because at it's basic level it's really just a dispute between two equally repellent assholes.

But that wasn't the actual question, was it? He pivoted the question from one of talking about the Saudi responsibility for this murder to something about an arms deal.

It's evasive and to some degree dishonest but at this point there's still an investigation going on and there are still unanswered questions.

Also, hate to say it this way, but what Saudi Arabia does to one of their citizens is not something the US should hang diplomatic relations upon.

Contrast this to the US citizen who was under arrest in Turkey and Trump had no qualms about cancelling arms contracts, military exercises, and he had no problem imposing serious economic sanctions on them over their treatment of a US citizen.

Now if Mr. Khashoggi (sp?) had been a US citizen I'd expect that Trump would be acting somewhat differently.

In any case, this is still developing and it's not over.

If he'd been a US citizen, he'd still be alive.

The prince isn't that stupid.

True. With Pastor Brunson the Turks had been talking about imposing the death penalty on him and had it come to that then I suspect Trump would have gone weapons free to save the man. That part of the equation likely led to the man being freed.

Still and all, after the investigation is completed if it looks the way it does - with the Saudis using a diplomatic outpost in Turkey to carry out a non-judicial execution - I suspect that the Turks may well cut relations with SA and the US will have to look at sanctioning the Saudis.

And that arms deal with SA might end up on the chopping block after all.

You think it's that easy? The Saudis hold the West hostage with their Terror-Oil because the Oil Sands and Pipelines are Evil or something.
