MPs on both sides of the House of Commons are condemning a newly-released video that shows a Kelowna RCMP officer questioning an under-aged Indigenous teen who was reporting a sexual assault, asking her questions such as "were you turned on during this at all, even a little bit?"

...The more than two hour long footage of the interview with the alleged victim shows the male officer questioning the unidentified young woman after she reported a sexual assault while in the care of British Columbia's child welfare system, according to APTN News.

"Physically you weren’t at all responsive to his advances? Even maybe subconsciously?" the RCMP officer asks.

According to APTN News, the man alleged to have assaulted her was never charged.

But now that this has come to light will anything happen to the Cop? How about the bastard that rape the girl, is there any kind of statue of limitations that will prevent him from being charged?

Anyone know if this girl, now a woman of around 24yrs old, Is going to file law suites or something? I know limited knowledge at this time but would like any further follow ups that might happen.

Unlikely anything will happen to the cop. There is no such concept in Canadian law as 'statute of limitations'. The Crown will proceed with charges if they have a reasonable chance of conviction, regardless of the time that has passed since the commission of a crime. The things is, the longer the delay. the less chance of conviction because evidence is lost to time.

Is this the same system that would take aboriginal children from their families and put them in schools because it would be better for them? Sounds like what happened to this girl falls along the same line.

Yup. The two things are related. They are locked together in an endless cycle, where first nations are considered expendable, and that leads to first nations feeling expendable.
