Now I'm confused... do we want the pipeline or we don't? [huh]

What's the big deal? It's not like it costs any more than a decade's worth of bailouts to Bombardier does.

We want it but the problem might just be that we can't afford it. [B-o]

Despite the cost over-runs the investment in TMX is still a good one because, as opposed to the bail-outs given to Bombardier, the pipeline will eventually make money someday.

I always like the part where the sections of the country that hate seeing Alberta or the O&G sector get any government help usually don't like it too much when they get reminded of things like Bombardier still being in business only because the federal government refuses to let them fail. Or any of the other things where they have to acknowledge that the government propping up a lot of this country for multiple decades is the only reason they have a semi-quality lifestyle at all. Y'know, I don't even have any objection at all to the government having to do this - if we're a family then we help each other when we have to, period. I just get pissed of when where I live gets singled out for more sneering and scolding when we have an emergency requiring assistance. This more than anything else is what's gotten me so pissed off at this country over the last several years because that kind of national personality trait is absolutely reprehensible. And that it's a widely-shared trait held by probably millions of Canadians makes it even worse.

I can see the mental octagon people must be wrestling in; how can a government willing to pay Billions of dollars to upgrade a pipeline be ant-Alberta and anti-Oil?

It's nowhere near as impressive as mental gymnastics some people have to pull to convince themselves that spending $20B on a pipeline and upgrading it when they didn't have to pay a single cent on it was a wise idea. Then again, Canadians are not that bright and now the folks at Kinder Morgan are snickering as they count their billions.
