What if you were on the jury and the only charge was murder? Would you have the integrity to say not guilty if the coroner ruled that the knee on the neck played no part in the death? That is how it is supposed to work.

I'd like to think I would say not guilty because the charge is wrong. It's not my place or my job to punish someone for a crime they didn't commit because the prosecutor is an asshat.

This is what I feel like Gutfeld is saying: he would rather see this POS go to jail (even if the coroner ruled that the knee was not the cause of death) than see the country burn. I wholeheartedly agree. Many of my countrymen agree.

Then you have exchanged a System of Justice for a System of Vengeance, where people can be punished because nobody likes them.

That is the exact reason there are 3 branches of government in the Western system of Democracy, so that Political decisions cannot affect matters of Enforcement or Justice.

Hasn't it always been that way? Juries are made up of people. They bring their own prejudices and beliefs to the table. Look at how you are talking about Gutfeld. (You do know that he is a comedian right?) It does not sound like you would be willing to give him a fair shake if you were on the jury. If the court knew that you had posted statements like that about him, you would be dismissed from the jury. How many people on this forum can honestly say that they would give Trump a fair shake if they were on the jury? Not many. Everyone likes to believe that they would be fair and impartial if they were on a jury. I think that I would be fair for the most part, but am admitting that I have a major problem with this cop being a cop. I think that there is something seriously wrong with that guy. A man is dying right under his knee and he is looking into the camera with that thousand yard stare. Its creepy as fuck! He has become way to used to people dying around him.

If I had to turn the system of justice into a system of vengeance to get this cop off of the force, than that is what I would do. Yeah I am guilty as charged, I admit it. It sucks that it has to come to that. It should not be that hard to get bad cops off of the force, but it is. Lots of people get screwed around in the first round in court. Local people bring their local beliefs to the jury. Polite southerners might not like loud mouthed yankees. Sophisticated city folk in Ontario might not like people from Alberta. Left wing strongholds might not like right wing talk show hosts. Jewish neighborhoods might not like nazis holding a march in their neighborhood. Black neighborhoods might not like klansmen marching in their neighborhood. Wealthy white neighborhoods might not like BLM marching in their neighborhood. Its always been that way. The lower courts have always been popularity contests. Does anyone REALLY think that O.J. Simpson is innocent of killing his ex wife and her boyfriend? Seriously?

Its when you get to the higher courts that some real "justice" gets administered. Professional jurists who (for the most part) care more about the law than their own feelings. If the cops knee did not actually kill Floyd, it is in the higher courts where the decision would be overturned. By that time the cop would have spent several years behind bars. Hopefully he would rethink his chosen profession. Even if he still wanted to be a cop, no force would hire him as he is now a lightning rod. I would have perverted the system, but I would have accomplished my goal of getting a bad cop off of the force. I would have no problem with that decision whatsoever. I would not lose one second of sleep over it.

I see he completely ignores the problems that have put people in a position where they feel the need to commit crimes. We are less than 50 years removed from the ending of segregation in the school systems. To sit there and pretend that there aren't still ramifications of racist policy hanging over the black communities head is completely idiotic.

I heard a good analogy. Imagine playing monopoly where everyone else who's playing can go around the board 100 times before you can move. How do you think that game will go for you?

bootlegga bootlegga:

Greg Gutfield is the same douchebag who trashed the Canadian Army back in 2009, then issue a half-assed apology for it.

That guy can go fuck himself.

Hilarious! I know nothing about this guy except that he trashed our forces in 2009. This is the first time I've ssen his name since, and I'm like--Hey--still a douchebag!

Another thing about this trial--I'm amazed they still use the term "excited delirium" as a cause of death. I thought that they tossed that pseudoscience years ago. I'm glad to see it was tossed from this case.
