Sources: Germany, France ask Zelensky to comply with Russia’s spin of Minsk Agreements
$1:
German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, who traveled to Kyiv on Feb. 14, tried to talk Zelensky into granting Russian-occupied regions autonomy, which is one of the key demands made by the Kremlin.

On Feb. 15, Russia’s parliament voted to ask Putin to recognize Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine’s Donbas as independent states. If Putin signs the bill, this will effectively cancel the Minsk Agreements, which, according to Ukrainian officials, isn’t what Russia desires.

The day before, Scholz said that Zelensky agreed to present a plan to introduce “special status” for occupied Donbas. Zelensky didn’t comment publicly on the issue.

During his visit to Moscow on Feb. 15, Scholtz called recognizing the independence of Russian-occupied regions a “political catastrophe.”

No. Absolutely not. Putin cannot be allowed to keep Eastern Ukraine and Crimea.

So the Government sends $7m in lethal weapons to Ukraine, but $1B to Saudi Arabia? [huh]

I thought we gave the Ukrainians $7 million in aid, but sold the Saudis billions of dollars of equipment. Did we just sell those weapons to Ukraine?

It was on the news this morning, that Ottawa approved the sale of small caliber guns and rifles to Ukraine, plus $500m in loans. The same government that upheld Harper era deals with the Saudis.

But how much is this build up costing Russia? 120k troops in the field, running exercises, using up extra ammo and supplies. That can't be cheap either.

U.S. has 'every indication' war on Ukraine is imminent after shelling on front line

MOSCOW/KYIV — U.S. President Joe Biden said on Thursday there was now every indication Russia was planning to invade Ukraine, including signs Moscow was carrying out a false flag operation to justify it, after Ukrainian forces and pro-Moscow rebels traded fire.

Moscow, for its part, ejected the number two official from the U.S. embassy and released a strongly worded letter accusing Washington of ignoring its security demands. It threatened unspecified “military-technical measures.”

Early morning exchanges of fire between Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists raised alarm, with Western officials who have long warned that Moscow could try to create a pretext for an invasion saying they believed such a scenario was now unfolding.

“We have reason to believe they are engaged in a false flag operation to have an excuse to go in. Every indication we have is they’re prepared to go into Ukraine and attack Ukraine,” Biden told reporters as he departed the White House.

Biden ordered Secretary of State Antony Blinken to change his travel plans at the last minute to speak at a United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on Western media outlets to publish a full list of dates on which Russia will invade Ukraine for the year ahead, so Russian diplomats can schedule their vacations accordingly.

This is not satire. They did this.

Latest Satellite Photos Show Increased Russian Military Activity Near Ukraine
$1:
The latest photos from the satellite company Maxar Technologies appear to show increased Russian military activity near Ukraine on February 14-16, including the building of a pontoon bridge in Belarus and the arrival of attack helicopters.

Russia's Defense Ministry said on February 15 that some troops deployed near Ukraine were returning to their permanent bases. But U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the next day that the United States had seen "no meaningful pullback" of Russian forces from the border with Ukraine.

And on February 17, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace accused Russia of doing the opposite of what it is claiming, stating: "We have seen an increase of troops over the last 48 hours, up to 7,000."

I think what we are seeing here is Putin testing the waters for pulling out. Trying to save face if he does pull back and showing that all this bravado was worth it as it kept Ukraine back in the orbit of Moscow economically. If Ukraine is left to its own devices they will soon outpace Russia GDP and that's why it is seen as a threat.
