Can we create an Omnibus thread for mass shootings in the US?
There's no point posting a new thread every other day for the mass murder that is so common in the States.

$1: The governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, said 14 students and one teacher were shot and killed at an elementary school in Uvalde, in the south-west of the state, on Tuesday. The gunman’s grandmother was reportedly killed too. Abbott said the gunman, who he named as Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old male from Uvalde, “shot and killed horrifically, incomprehensibly, 14 students and killed a teacher … the shooter, he himself is deceased and it is believed responding officers killed him”. Abbott also said: “It appears that two responding officers were struck by rounds, but have no serious injuries.” Abbott said the gunman had a handgun and “may have also had a rifle”. Abbott also referred to the gunman shooting his grandmother before entering the school. The governor did not say anything further about the grandmother’s condition. An Uvalde police spokesperson did not confirm the numbers, identities or ages of the dead as given by the governor. But it's hard to escape the horror and sorrow when things like this happen. Fifteen lives snuffed out. Fifteen families put through an endless hell. All because a country refuses to do even the bare minimum to try and ensure this doesn't happen anymore. |

Scape Scape: Thanks Scape I was just going to post this one. He’s speech was very good I hope that it will make people think. They were babies! And no other than the headline and this speech I haven’t read anything it was an elementary school ffs!! That’s all I need to know about it right now |

Yet another completely heartbreaking day. So many young lives taken for absolutely no reason that could ever be made or justified. Just...  More than heartbreaking for all those who lost a child/sibling/relative to this slaughter but also to the first responder personnel who dealt with the victims and to the medical crews at the hospital who had to treat the victims. The trauma must be awful. |

Strutz Strutz: I was a bit confused as to why there were no further posts in this thread. I for one find threads like this one difficult. Everyone knows the answers, but everyone knows the solutions will be stifled. And we know what will continue to happen. It's heartbreaking. |
