No, not like those. The others actually have reasons for being a holiday. This one doesn't.

My theory is that our societies, number one enemy of the people, the school teachers want a paid day off from their pretend job of actually teaching.

See , if you had stayed in school past grade 6 (the first time, not the third time) you'd realize how incorrect your statement was, but maybe this is just your envy speaking.

Labour day was installed to celebrate the fact the unions got their way... What's historical about that? That is just as political as some PM installing Family Day.

Canada Day is the celebration of the day Canada was signed to be Canada, politically (if I read it correctly...) What is not political about that?

It became historical over the years, but it was not from day 1...

Edit

It was way off topic.

I apologize for being inconsiderate.

Thank you

"That unions got their way?" Try learning a little more about it. This is far from bullshit union complaints nowadays. AND it's celebrated all around the world, so no it isn't political.

It's the founding of our country. How is that seen as political? It's when the British North America act was signed. Seriously, look into these things, these have actual meaning. "Family day" doesn't.

Thanksgiving has Historical reasons.

And those are.....?

$1:
The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been futilely attempting to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did, however, establish a settlement in Canada. In the year 1578, Frobisher held a formal ceremony in what is now the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This event is widely considered to be the first Canadian Thanksgiving, and the first Thanksgiving celebrated by Europeans in North America. More settlers arrived and continued the ceremonial tradition initiated by Frobisher, who was eventually knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him—Frobisher Bay. The innermost point of the inlet of Frobisher Bay is the location of the Nunavut capital, formerly itself called Frobisher Bay, and now called Iqaluit.

And if he were almost anywhere other than Ontario, he could add Remembrance Day to the list. :D
Yes I would, what's your point?

Not every country celebrates Labour Day though.

The British North America Act signing was not political? You could have fooled me...

Family Day may not have a meaning yet. Traditions grow. Give it a chance. You don't have to like it, but that doesn't mean everybody else has to find it meaningless too.

At the time it might have been, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it is the founding of our fucking country. Not really seeing how the founding of our country compares to "Family day"

If it doesn't have meaning now, it won't. Ever single one has had meaning when it was put forth.

Traditions need something to grow. This doesn't have anything to grow from.

I never said I don't like it, I want to know the reason for it. If there is no reason, then it's because of the political game. Which is fine, I just want to see someone admit it.

And this warrants a stat because......?

There are other far more significant events that we could honour.

I don't know why you have a bug up your butt about this one... unless you're just feeling argumentative. ;)
It warrants a stat because it was a continued tradition when the settlers kept coming over. It wasn't a stat until 1950 something, so that's almost 400 years of thanksgiving. It was an already established tradition, they just gave it a day.

Jesus Christ Tricks, did I eat your candy or something?

Of course family day is because of the political game. So?

Happy now?

Never said that either. Trying to find out WHY we are suddenly getting this holiday. What could be the purpose of this.
