All the more reason to get serious about conserving energy.

My energy expenses are FIXED expenses.

For me and the wife it is a must to own two vehicles. In any given work week we must commute a total of over 800 kilometers. At least two fill ups are needed every week.

We need to heat and cool our home. That is NOT a luxury.

Ever hear the saying "if you bought it a truck brought it"?

Well Dion's tax will raise the cost of transporting goods. Everything in your local grocery store is likely to go up in price. Food is NOT a luxury.

My situation is not a unique one where I live either this will hurt alot of people here. I'm making it my personal mission to let all my family and friends know what kind of con artist this weasel is and not to vote for his sorry ass next election.

If you were really interested in conserving energy and saving money, you could.

Seems to me that you don't want to even try, though. That's fine, but it'll cost you.

So what happens Streaker when people do start to conserve and technology advances enough to minimize emissions? Will the Liberal party go looking for the next big evil of the world to tax because the federal coffers are running dry with out the income from the carbon tax?

Maybe me and the wife could flip a coin and see who walks the 70 kilometers to work and back.

Maybe when winter comes we could turn off the heat and freeze in the dark.

When the next summer heat wave hits we could throw out the a/c and cook in +40 weather.

Maybe I could buy more energy efficient appliances... oh wait no money for major appliances.

Maybe we could buy two hybrid cars? Oh wait, no money for one new car let alone two.

Where do you live Streaker? Never Never Land?

In regards to your jackass comment Streaker. I guess this is the kind of statements you would look up to from a sitting Prime Minister?
$1:
For me, pepper, I put it on my plate.
That's Jean Chretin joking about police using pepper spray on Canadians. Or how about this doozy:
$1:
Screw the Red Book... Don't tell me what's in the Red Book. I wrote the goddamned thing. And I know that it's a lot of crap.
Can you guess who said that?

Why on earth are you asking me these questions? And what do they have to do with the topic at hand?

At any rate, under Chretien and Martin our coffers were overflowing without a carbon tax and the Libs had started cutting taxes.

You are being silly.

Communting over 800 Km's a week to work is your own choice. You could move, change jobs, work from home (if possible), work longer days/shorter work week (if possible)...if it's just because you like where you live then it is a luxury.

As for Heating or Cooling, keeping your house at 22 degrees when it's 35 outside is a luxury. I'm not saying that you need to turn off your A/C, just be honest with yourself about what is a luxury and what isn't.

I hate the prevailing attitude in Canada that if it's hard to do (like climate change issues) than why bother to try.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm not a Liberal.

I'm aware of that, I'm also aware you don't criticize anyone but the CPC.

You're in denial about the sacrifices you'll have to make if you want to maintain your high-consumption lifestyle. We'll all have to make them and once we have we'll realise that it wasn't such a big deal.

I dislike the CPC a whole lot more than the Libs, true enough.

You're so fucking asinine Streaker.

This is all moot because Dion will never get the chance to put his con into play.

So maintain my lifestyle I will.

Better to face the future now than bury your head in the sand.

One way to decide as to whether, or not carbon taxes, and other schemes are a good idea, is to observe how they've done in other countries. Apparently not so good. Harper seems pretty prophetic here. In fact if I could bet on either Harper's prophecy of Canadians getting screwed by a carbon tax if it was ever implemented, or Al Gore's prophecy of 30 foot tsunamis through Manhattan I know where I'd be putting my money.
