Hopefully he'll pay for something, eventually. CASR had some interesting ideas about this - buying surplus 'merkun stuff at a reasonable price.

Do you want Canada to be a dumping ground for unwanted or obsolete American military hardware?

The proposals put forth by CASR weren't for obsolete stuff, just surplus, thus possibly available to Canada at a good price.

It's probably better than their ideas for Russian hardware... but would you really want Canada to finance the American Military-Industrial war machine?

No such danger if we can get the stuff at below cost.

Canada isn't the kind of country the USA typically supplies military hardware at below cost too.

So we don't get a repeat of the Upholder mess, we should look at any used military hardware with a very critical eye.

No, he's cutting back on defence spending because he's learned that it doesn't get votes.

I hear the Exxon Valdez is on sale for a pretty good price.

What about nuclear powered ships? Possibility or pie in the sky?

Not really practical unless you're thinking aircraft carriers or SSN/SSBN's.

The Russians do use nuclear powered icebreakers but I doubt such beasts would be cost effective for us, having none of the required infrastructure to support nuke ships.

I vote pie in the sky...

Wouldn't buying from them below cost be consistent with my anti-Americanism?

We should screw 'em whenever we can.
