Yes, although the colony grew with the English, French and Indians coming together (against the Americans) it was still made a nation under British rule and emerged from the former colony into a nation in the British Commonwealth.

Afraid it is more complex towards confederation other than simplifying it to 'british rule'. Then you agree that Britian itself wasn't the only component in the creation of Canada. Great. Why didn't you say that before?

So I hold that yes, indeed, Canada is a British nation

Can such a thing even be said? British nation???? If that is the case, no Canada is not a British nation. Far from it.
$1:
I do not demand British symbols to be put where there are none, but do not remove them for modern post-colonial spite... Try to take the fleur-de-lis from the Quebec flag and see what happens... :-)

I agree.
$1:
See what I'm saying?

Yes, do you see what I am saying?

Oh I didn't see that this way...
I was just looking at the flag not the history.

But it's right a little French (fleur-de-lys) would be a good idea, according to the history of the province.

It happened last year because a bunch of school kids voted on it I think, probably ignorant on their provinces history.

Anyway, the French history of Manitoba should be in the flag IMO. Maybe in the coat of arms.

in St. Boniface and some tiny communities there is a Franco Manitoban culture. Outside of those small farming villages, and Festival du Voyageur, German and Ukrainian culture is more prevalent in Manitoba....and most of the Prairies I dare say.

I understand that. But still, Frenchies were there. Thinking like that it's like saying they should put a dragon on BC's flag.

A Red River cart would be a good reflection of Metis culture on the coat of arms. However, the unicorn, which is symbolic of France is already there

Same could be said of the English culture in Quebec but I guess both are repressed on representation eh?
