Fucking losers....make a bad name for all cyclists. I got stuck behind that line of idiots....running reds, not wearing helmets...being fucktards, is an illegal protest and they shouldnt be getting police escorts on a tax payer dime.

A long time ago I used to go to the occasional Vancouver community event meetings and the BEST people would show up and literally bully old people. I remember them shouting down this one old lady who was against their plans because it was strictly for bicycles and the great number of seniors couldn't ride bicycles. It was a danmed ugly example of politics.

Their like little Stalinists on bikes.

Oh yes...the wonderful BEST people

I do really wish the VPD had taken us into custody last night...what a great news story. Law abiding driver, gets arrested for protesting illegal protest.

They certainly were thinking about it...hands on the spray, threatening...Screw them too, giving those idiots an escort and protection.

$1:
Portland police spent $20,083 last year for 225 officers to patrol the city's Critical Mass bicycle demonstrations, the bureau said this week. Officers logged 417 hours and 128 overtime hours while watching over the monthly rush-hour rides through downtown, according to the Traffic Safety Summary report of violations and expenditures for 2006 released Wednesday.

This is a political group and the only way to hit them is publicly and politically. I wonder how much of Vancouvers police budget is wasted by the mayors friends?

I dont know right now, but I am going to make it a goal to find out. Its time to take Vancouver and the lower Mainland back from these idiots.

Good luck but I don't think you'll get anywhere because it's clear the retards have taken over the assylum. The bicycle nazies get tons of federal and provincial money and no one holds them accountable.

Well I just blasted out some emails...lets see what comes of it. Its our money and we are entitled to see the books of the VPD at anytime. Complete waste of Police resources....like this city doesnt have enough problems now our police have to babysit these fucktards.

I have never been part of any organized bike event but I have recently started to commute by bicycle. It's been alot of fun. Additonally, it has raised my awareness of some of our transportation issues.

Critincal mass leaves me with mixed feelings...

on the plus side: I think it could send a 'be careful what you wish for because it might come true' message to city planners that would rather ignore the cyclist's needs by dumping us onto the streets. I think critical mass shows that dumping us onto the streets isn't always a good idea.

on the negative side: I think the practice of 'corking' intersections and deliberately blocking traffic is unecessary and promotes a negative attitude towards bicycles.

Whats wrong with following all the rules on these rides, and making drivers aware of the problems that are associated with lots of bicycles on a road that was never designed for bicycles?

Or whats wrong with leaving the corking up to the RCMP? wouldn't that send a strong message to city planners if the RCMP decided that these events can't be safe unless the block vehicle traffic.

They're almost turning into PETA, at least in my eyes. I empathise with their goals but their methods are completely counter-productive and do nothing to gain them any support.
