Thank you for allowing me to clarify. I hold no grudge against the OPP. They should not be put in the position of enforcing injunctions against Indigenous people who are upholding their own legal rights. However, when it happens, the OPP should not try to defend their own actions by trying to make others look like criminals. The Haudenosaunee Confederacy has legal rights ... aboriginal title. It is not necessary for the Canadian government to recognize their title for it to be valid. Police should not let themsleves be used as thugs to help the government with its attempts to fraudulently maintain possession of stolen property. |

"APPEASEMENT" ?!!!! Regaining title to land stolen from you is NOT appeasement! IT IS THE RULE OF LAW IN CANADA!!!! It's not a law that Canada particularly likes, but is has to obey it nonetheless!! Being half anything doesn't mean you understand it, if you haven't made the effort to. Stolen? As I recall, it was signed away. Funny how Canada is the only country in the world who thought that rather than conquer the Native inhabitants, they'd sign treaties. Sure it avoided copious amounts of bloodshed, but we are still having to deal with these constant annoyances of "you raped our land and soiled our women". Give me a break. And saga, you need to chill out. Obviously this is a passionate topic for you, but you're coming off as hysterical, you should get your uterus checked. *wicked grin* |

PS SCRAPPY I do more than read the papers... I watched them interview people ... and go from person to person to get the "sound byte" they are looking for. They will bypass people who answer honestly ("I support the land claim and I think the police should back off."), until they can find one idiot who will say "The VIOLENCE is HORRIBLE!" and they print that. I have written many many letters to the mainstream press about their biased and stupid coverage, and had one successful complaint to the Ontario Press Council. I suggest you read a bit more critically. If I believed the mainstream press, I would believe that the natives are attacking the police and citizens with bats and pipes every day! ...And it never happened at all. Instead, it is the criminal element of Caledonia who threatens Six Nations and any Caledonians who speak in their support. And the police do nothing. 60 charges against Haudenosaunee 0 against anyone else! The press is only selling papers. That's their job. They are just slimy salespeople. |

themasta ... The government will be the one to make the decision whether their surrender was valid, not you, not me, not the public. That is the whole issue in the negotiations. Until that is decided, NO ONE has the right to treat them as criminals! The government has given some clues recently "There are definite indications that there are valid claims there". In fact, there is a government map from 1900 that surfaced in the newspaper recently showing the reclamation site to be UNCEDED territory as of 1900, so the surrenders of 1841 and 1843 are not valid. The government is arranging meetings with municipal government leaders to give them the news. I don't understand why everyone wants to prejudge the land claim before the government examines it! The government is usually wrong, and just trying to cover its tracks. The upshot is this: Ontario has a new greenbelt ... the Haldimand Tract ... six miles deep on either side of the Grand River, source to mouth ... because it belongs to the Haudenosaunee, who will not allow sprawl development, and so will the Douglas Creek Estates property ... now Kanonhstaton. And Ipperwash Camp and Park belong to the Stony Pointers ... if the government would get off its butt and finish the paperwork!!! Yes, I am passionate. People have been killed, people have been criminalized ... to protect our governments' criminal actions and failure to uphold our Constitution. IT STINKS ... and I speak out ... because although we have dishonourable governments, we still pretend to have free speech!! Freedom is not something we "have" ... it is something we work toward and defend constantly. If we rely on misinformation campaigns to defend our governments' illegal actions ... we are a totalitarian state. |

Today I learned that a Facist is someone who is emotional and does not heed reason or rational thought. They are the type of person you will never win an arguement with because no matter what facts you bring to bare, their actions are dictated and driven by their own emotional involvement. That night, a local Hell’s Angels chapter attended the site in a show of support for the Mohawk Warrior Society, who have been present during the protest.
