Aside from my past arguments, I don't see how someone can support separatism, which could clearly lead to anarchy, and be serious at the same time about solving problems. A strong Canadian central government filled with good leaders (for a change) is the only way I see us becoming more powerful and prosperous, as well as more socially responsible. <br /> <br />I simply see no idealism in any separatist party. PQ, Bloq. And then there's Mario Dumont: "We don't support sovereignty, we support autonomy." Some business interests are the only ones to gain anything from separatism--economics is the key. <br /> <br />Not to mention the Quebec university students keep telling the PQ pollsters the same thing--no. Go away. I think separating French-Canadian pride from destructive separatism is a good idea. French is a wonderful language, and it is in no danger of disappearing IMO. <br /> <br />

English is simply the language of world commerc--and if and when this passes, English and French may be marginalized. Not to mention most Canadians in the ROC speak English but don't originate in England. <br /> <br />

Just outta curiosity how many other federalist parties are there in Quebec besides the PLQ and parti egalite? I know that the Greens are federalists (least I think so), the Bloc Pot might be, but they're not exactly a serious party. The Marxist-Leninists call themselves federalists, but from what I've read both the federal party and their provincial counterparts are just as much seperatist as the Bloc and PQ. <br /> <br />But hey they're Maoists, I don't expect sanity from those types of people!
