No, but it's most a precaution I think. Not much of a tsunami expected down here (in the tens of cms at best)

The seismologist on CBC just said that the earthquakes in that region usually do not cause large tsunami's.

The only place in the world where an earthquake and tsunami don't send people running to the hills but into their basements to rescue their crops. The plants! Save the plants before yourself, gawdammit!

That's right, BC'ers. Consider yourselves and your folksy ways as having been thoroughly dissed. I do have a grudging respect for BC though. It's not often you find a place where instead of panicking, 9 out of 10 BC'ers who actually felt the quake responded with a calm and orderly, "Dave's not here, man".

Got a call from Terrace, my poor grand daughter got scared shitless.
Lucky Mom was off work, they ran outside and everyone else was standing around wondering WTF happened.
Our wonderful wobbly woodframe homes, most of us have to hear it on the radio to confirm it was an earthquake.
Back in the 70s we were playing cards and the house started to shake. Everyone grumbled about the train - that was when BC Hydro still owned the current SkyTrain route and had to run an engine and caboose once a night to retain the track rights, The fridge started to wobble and we steadied to save our beers and bitched even louder.
Then for the only time in history the FM station interrupted Stairway to Heaven to announce the earthquake. We all felt stupid.
Now that was so damn long ago that tonight I just watched the doors wave and the windchimes ring and I still didn't clue in until things started popping up on my computer! Honest to shit we thought the washing machine was wonkily off-balance and we both went to the laundryroom to check. Even opened the door during the shaking and failed to note the dog and cat streaked in and hid under the couch!
This was really unusual smack in the middle of BC.
