"We should be humble about what we know and what we dont." Well, there's a clear path forward if I ever heard one. ha ha ha

$1:
According to the Swiss bank UBS, the scheme has cost European consumers about $280-billion for almost zero impact on carbon emissions. Meanwhile, artificially high electricity prices have made many European industries uncompetitive.

It's been nothing but a lot of bad science, corruption, lies, and a massive tax grab.

Oh, there's been some good science in there too. Apart from that, though, it's hard to disagree with you.

Wait, one thing about global warming is that it's made Al Gore into the wealthiest man to have ever served as either Vice President or President. :!:

I'd say it's been more about "selective" science than good or bad science, by ALL sides of the debate.

That sound about right, tho really none of us know. But I think it's time we faced reality - we're just not going to make a dent in climate change, whether it's because the causes are not anthropogenic, or because we have more and more little consumers coming on stream who all want the same crap everybody else does. That doesn't mean we should just pollute away, there are plenty of good reasons to get away from carbon fuels that have nothing to do with global warming, especially coal. But we should stop hurting economies and put the focus on ameliorating climate change effects. In my humble opinion, because like most on this forum and throughout the world, what do we really know about it?

But taking Margaret Wente's word on this and many other topics is not very smart. Her job is to stir up controversy and make half baked arguments.

You are going to agree with me ? Oh fuck I must be wrong then [B-o]

But please dont think my opposition to the GW crowd is my tacit condonation
of keeping things the way they are, because it isn't.

New cars make me absolutely crazy.

The problem with the AGW science is that once it was revealed in the University of East Anglia emails that the scientists were knowingly faking their data then the question for the general public became one of asking what other data was faked?

Thus you end up throwing out the whole of the data even though some of it may have been honest and accurate.

I sort of miss that clown. I never agreed with him (her?) but I'll admit that Eureka certainly did spice things up around here.

The UK is considering leaving the EU - apparently that might have an impact on AGW policy...

Yes she's very sly about it. "I'm not questioning the basic science of global warming"--she should have added a parenthetical *nudge nudge wink wink* here.
