The wood on those staircases is just horrid.

martin14 martin14: The wood on those staircases is just horrid. True but, then again they probably kept some finishing carpenter busy for 20 years fitting the strips of exotic woods together. It's a nice house but IMO not 10 million worth.

The Man cave is nice, but the house is still in Calgary.......

martin14 martin14: The wood on those staircases is just horrid. The only wood on those staircases is the bannisters! The treads and risers are carpeted. And I agree that "it looks like hell'! Note the risers are done correctly, being done separately, but even then the pattern isn't properly matched-one to the next-, given that the treads are arced, that was definitely the wrong pattern to use. In fact, carpet shouldn't have been used at all! Rather the staircases should have been appointed in wood or stone. As they are, it looks like what it really is. " Somebody cheaped out"!

Meh. 10.5 mil doesn't even buy you a lot in a prime location in Vancouver. Penthouses go for double that.

Some of the house looks pretty nice (home theatre, billiard room, kitchen), but those carpeted stairs are pretty hideous. Nevermind that the garage isn't attached, so you get to freeze your balls off three months of the year when you want to go anywhere.

They don't have electric heat in Calgary?

I'm sure everybody can find things they don't like. Carpet on the stairs, the wood used for the banisters and the banisters themselves, double stairs going up and down are a waste and white laminated cabinets in the kitchen... really!!!

andyt andyt: They don't have electric heat in Calgary? Of course they do, but when it's -25 (worse if there any wind), do you really want to walk outside to get to the garage? I sure as hell don't.

Meh, I would have demanded $1,000,000 off the listing price those ugly looking stairs.

Usually, the selling feature is the kitchen. What was it here?
