Oh noes!

Somebody said that we should look at what is actually causing the problem instead of just dealing with results...

Blasphemy!

Isn't there a saying...ounce of prevention is a pound of cure...no bother, that was before my time.

Yep.

Partisan knee jerking in progress.

The idea that there is a cause to the event is verboten in the emotive shouting that is the current round of intelligent dialogue. People do shit like this for a reason; I think it's good to know what that reason is as a measure of prevention.

Just like the fat guy with bad knees it seems. Address the knees and forget about the fat.

Screw the bomber(s) and screw his/their motivations. There is no justification for this carnage. There is no excuse. So the poor baby(s) felt excluded? Whoopty do. Their motivations are likely so off the wall we wouldn't understand them regardless.

Once they find him/them they should be "excluded" to a dark and dreary existence for the rest of their natural lives.

Yeah, because trying to prevent this is a waste of time. Better the righteous indignation exercise after the fact.

This isn't some touchy feely exercise so don't twist yourself up in knots of fear that there's a love in in the offing. This is about understanding motivations in order to identify those that might be moving towards conducting acts such as these.

Intelligence organizations do this type of thing all of the time so try setting yourself to 'relax'.

Well you've had about 50 years to work on that root causes of terrorism thing. How you guys doing with that? Other than still watching people get their legs blown off, I mean.

'You guys'?

Removed yourself from the equation again, have you?

JT's laying the victim-blaming on pretty heavily.

I guess if the runners and spectators didn't want to get bombed, they shouldn't have dressed so provocatively.

They shouldn't have gone to such a public place, of course.

Ridiculous partisan nonsense. To be expected though.

Knowing the supposed grievance that perpetuated their homocidal actions doesn't help you a whole hell of a lot in stopping the next nut job. Whether they are pissed off because they hate the west, hate capitalism, or hate mommy cause she never hugged them and daddy cause he beat them.

Knowing how they did it and what allied resources they had at their disposal is much more important than the why. Knowing how allows you to enact countermeasures. Knowing why... well...

I'm more curious about how it's partisan.

So in Justin's view, Mohammed Atta was probably screaming out "it's society's fault!" when he piloted a jetliner into the WTC? Hey, that's interesting to know.

You think that statement accurately describes Justin's view? For real? You should send that in to SUN or FOX. They'd likely offer you a job.

It's the western worlds fault for being relatively wealthy and influential. If we didn't have so much damn money and influence we wouldn't have made those terrorists so angry and all those people would still be alive.

Liberal viewpoints never surprise me. The instinctive urge to under-punish the offense, no matter how horrific it is, accompanied by an almost manic need to place blame anywhere else than on the perpetrator is endlessly fascinating.
