I doubt it sways many people one way or another. Maybe a few in the mushy middle who are just impressed that he admits it but don't care one way or another about marijuana laws.

The conservative types weren't gonna vote for him anyways, and the liberals would vote for him if he admitted to smoking crack

He's appealing to the younger population who don't bother to vote anyway.

Who might be willing to vote if the issue at hand was one they cared about.

Conservative responses:

“These drugs are illegal because of the harmful effect they have on users and on society,” the party wrote on its website last month. “We will continue protecting the interests of families across this country.

“Our government has no interest in seeing marijuana legalized or made more easily available to youth.”

These people truly are morons and just don't get it. The harmful effect on users and society? Really? You stupid fucks. What about alcohol and its effect on people and society? 90% of them probably drink and see no problem with it, well being very drunk and very high are 2 completely different things. I have experienced both on more than one occasion, when very high I am still myself, maybe get some munchies and laugh a little harder at stupid shit, but otherwise still very much in control of my actions.
Alcohol on the other hand (as some of you probably know) is completely different, I have been so drunk a few times in my life that I cannot even remember the next day what I did the night before, it's so common there's even a name for it: having a 'blackout'. Also when very drunk I am not myself and I am not in control in the same way as when sober or high. I (and many others) have done things when drunk that I regretted afterward very much, I won't go into detail but most of us have been there and know it was 'the alcohol talking' or doing, as we wouldn't do these things without it.
BUT, of course Mary Jane is much, much worse!! Ridiculous! The only way to justify pot being illegal is if alcohol was as well.

I would sooner trust an honest pot smoking Member of Parliament than a deliberately lying, promise breaking, non-accountable, duck and hide Prime Minister. :)

Just a few articles showing the harmful effects of marijuana

http://alcoholism.about.com/od/pot/a/effects.-Lya.htm

http://www.drugfreeworld.org/drugfacts/ ... fects.html

http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/evidence99 ... lth_1.html

http://www.defense.gov/specials/drugawa ... uana1.html

I do not understand why those who support marijuana use want to compare it to alcohol. If you are so strong in wanting marijuana let its positive stand on its own don't compare your substance to another. It's like saying hey I stole $10 but joe stole $20 why are you punishing me? Worry about and present your stance solely upon marjana not on other things to try and show that you are not AS BAD. All you are really saying is yes its bad but.....

Here man let me help you with that:

positive health effects of marijuana

Thanks for playing.

You see Cannabis cannot stand on it's own merits not in this perverted democracy. It didn't take you long to point out the negative effects, you could have easily done the same with the positive but didn't.

No need to when everyone who wishes to promote it only posts the postive and never the negitive. A post showing the negitive to help blance out the positives is more then fair. But hey man go smoke a joint or two and see if you can remember what I've written let alone your own name. Enjoy your giggles while you try.

As for as him smoking grass goes ... BFD ..., more of the problem for him though is in not drinking coffee in the land of Tim Horton's. That he will have some explaining to do.

In a free society those who wish to ban someone else's private vice need to show why it should be banned. The anti-pot folks only answer to that is "its harmful", which would be fair except that our society allows many harmful substances to be legal. Therefore it is incumbent on those who wish to limit other's freedoms to prove why this particular substance is worse than other legal substances.

It shouldn't be up to people to prove why they should have personal freedom.

See, that what Harper was until he became PM. Although, he was probabally too boring to smoke pot. But after he became PM, he turned into the lying, promise breaking, unaccountable dick we all know and love!
