He still managed to land the plane; give the guy a hand.

Despite their assertions to the contrary, having some guys arm become detached during the landing of a plane isn't what I'd consider a minor safety concern. 8O

I'm all in favour of hiring the handicapped but, there are certain jobs that some people shouldn't be doing because of their disabilities and this is one of them. The guy may be eminently qualified to be a pilot except for a few minor incidents like body parts becoming detached during the most crucial time of the flight but, this insanity falls into the same category as allowing an epileptic to perform brain surgery.

Fucking bullshit all inclusive politically correct crap is going to get alot of people killed at some point and they just dodged a bullet with this one.

Hey if Douglas Bader could fly Spitfires with no legs I'd say this guy can do it short an arm.

As long as the pilot doesn't have a seeing-eye dog, I'm OK with it.

By trying to politicise this, you're going out on an artifical limb...flight safety is governed by an arm's length regulator. This guy needs a shoulder to lean on right now, not to mention a round of high-fives (as long as they're one at a time please).

I guess that he never flew with the armed services.

Airline pilots should be prepared for every situation, especially during takeoffs and landings... and that's why there are 2 of them. Instead of losing his arm, the pilot could have suffered a stroke. That copilot has to be ready to take the controls.
