My father was in the military as was his father. As a kid I always remember one comment he made, he told me that "it is better to have a rifle and fight your enemy in their country rather than be attacked in your own and have no weapon".
This guys motive is clear and there is some relevance to it. Obviously these types of wars are different than traditional nation vs nation fighting but the premise is the same. Of course, identifying who is reaching out and radicalizing Canadians is just as, if not more important to our security than these fights, but we certainly cant have improved security if ISIS controls the resources and populations of entire countries. Which appears to be their end goal.
