Same. My mother and father in law are on the road to Kamloops with everyone else. They're staying there with friends for the night then probably down my way tomorrow.

This just keeps getting worse. Down here on the Wet Coast it hasn't rained since the first day of summer and the rest of the province is in largely the same boat.

Mowich Mowich:
As I write this thousands of people are streaming out of Williams Lake after the city was issued an evacuation order. They are heading S to 100 Mile House where they will be directed to HWY 24 then S again to Kamloops. The population of Willy's Puddle as many of us fondly call it, is around 10,000 odd souls. My prayers are with them tonight.

Funny, I've heard many refer to it as Bill's Pond...

My prayers too. May this end soon and bless all of those who are trying to make it so.

Willie's Puddle.....haven't heard that for a long time. I once had quite a few friends in that part of the country, the Puddle, 150 mile to Horsefly and Likely, plus one or two around the Hendrix Lake area. Just heard the evacuation order has reached into the Polley lake area...is there going to be anything left in the Cariboo that hasn't been scorched.....

Time, wind and weather will tell, Hyack. So far, all the thunder and lightning storms that were in our forecast have managed to pass us by. They, not the current fires, are our biggest fear right now. The Ashcroft fire is still too far away to do anything other than cause breathing problems from the ash-laden smoke. The Gustafsen Lake fire is not longer a threat to us here but there are several other fires that could blow up and come at us from another direction should the winds pick up. Still they would take days to reach our area. Many people have left due to the heavy smoke but a core of us remain and are hanging tough. Smoky and cool this AM but not a breath of wind.

Bill's Pond - never heard that one, Strutz. Willy's Puddle is how most of us refer affectionately to the Lake city. Apparently, the fires are still outside the Puddle - I pray they are able to keep it that way. The economic impact of these fires is going to be enormous.

Unless the weather changes drastically and the entire province receives a deluge of rain, it is going to be a very long summer, xerxes.

Shit, the evacuation alert area's now expanded to Green Lake too! And the Hwy 24 corridor.
Prince George has been receiving evacuees, but now they're directing ppl from Williams Lake south to Kamloops. Hope the PG campground owners can STFU about RV's overnighting at WalMart and the casino while this is going on.

Frightening to even think about how many more communities could be devastated before summer ends.

Still working on Sutherland fire and there's some south of Vanderhoof and towards Prince George. No big scares at the moment.
Been much cooler and wetter along the Hwy 16 corridor here this summer. Shit might fly if summer ever gets here!

That's good. Hopefully it stays that way for your area. Too bad that your cooler and wetter conditions couldn't move further south where it's needed.

Sorry but after shivering through a long bloody winter, I'd like to take off the undershirt and turn the furnace off. Last summer sucked here too.

And I'd like to see that biomass plant actually start up and people removing some of the fuel in the woods. That won't happen.
They'll milk every cent of grant money and every delay possible to build, chop up whole logs to burn and ensure nobody goes out cleaning the underbrush.

Aren't they building one of those in Merrit as well?
