Because it's Unconstitutional, that's why.

They aren't US citizens, so they'd probably have to apply for immigration to Canada from their country of origin anyhow.

Unless they all show up at the same time and walk across.

Doors are wide open, nothing to even slow them down.

I'm not anti-immigration, I'm anti-breaking our Country to accommodate too many people at once. We need to develop our infrastructure to accommodate the influx of people. We need to build new communities and further develop existing communities. Ensure roads, and transit can accommodate more cars, and people. Ensure all people have access to AFFORDABLE housing, and most importantly ensure there are jobs for all that can work.

Allowing Immigrants in to Canada is not a problem, ensuring our transit, cities and economy handle them is a problem.

What's the problem? The people who've crossed our border already weren't US citizens and hadn't filed for immigration to Canada in their home countries. They went into the US illegally and when caught claimed refugee status but, when it became apparent that they were going to be deported back to their country of origin they ran to Canada and were welcomed with open arms because the Safe Third Country treaty apparently means squat to the current gov't.

So, could someone please tell what makes these 700K dreamers any different and why they can't do exactly what the Haitians and other groups of American illegals have already done?

Good! Now you folks can pay to shelter them, feed them, pay for their educations, and then put up with their shit when they demand their 'rights' from you.

It’s also doubtful that small communities would have the resources and language base for esl or other programs.

99% of this country is sweet fuck all but trees. The simple clause that you must spend 3 years in the boonies before citizenship is considered seems too simple to implement.
I stated 15 years or so back that if all 50,000 refugees from the Kosovo thing went to the old mining town of Manson Creek with a goat under one arm and a tool belt, Manson Creek would be bigger and more prosperous than Prince George by 2020.
You blame immigrants for jamming up the cities, yet you all convince yourself daily that ONLY the big cities exist and Canada has finished building itself.

Personally I hate big cities. Nice place to visit but won’t want to live there. I think a lot of people would benefit from spending time in a small town or rural area even if it is just to get a glimmer of understanding of why that would appeal to someone. My mother would love to live in a condo in downtown Toronto or Vancouver. I don’t get it but to each their own.

Though now that I think about there is an app for that. Husband uses a translation app at work for a couple of guys who don’t always get it in English. So there wouldn’t be a huge problem with language barriers. Still leaves housing and other infrastructure issues. As mentioned in other threads it’s not easy getting in or out of a lot of places. The trains are gone and buses are closing some runs.

Come one guys, these are Americans that just aren't in US legal terms. We should prepare now and actually welcome them, preferred immigration status. Exactly what you anti-immigrant types seem to want.

That's the thing. These aren't recent arrivals that can't speak English who wandered across the border to pick crops. These are the kids of previous illegals that have or are in the school system. They speak the lingo, they're learning applicable skills, and have huge life-long potential. It's a fool and a fool only that wouldn't want them as citizens.

And they won't come in en masse either. There's the usual entrance and citizenship requirements that they'll have to meet first. In terms of making allowances for a large contingent of immigrants into the country this is about as far as it gets from something as stupid as the Europeans letting millions of fighting-age Muslim males into their countries over the course of only several years.

America's loss, Canada's potential gain. At a minimum it's worth discussing and studying. Besides, just think of the fun to be had by a second La Raza setting up shop to the north of the US. Dimwit heads would be all explodey at FOX, Breitbart, and the rest of the chud watering holes.

And I not saying we should take some of them in, I'm saying absorbing 700,000 people be it at once or over 2 or 3 years require us to ensure our infrastructure can cope. Schools, hospitals, housing, transit, and jobs are not magically created. We need to develop our country to accommodate the influx of new Canadians.

It can be done over a much longer period of time than that, like over a decade at a minimum. Concentrate first on the ones the Americans deport as a priority. Then work on the ones in the US that haven't been rounded up yet.

The Canadian immigration system isn't able to handle the backlog that was created after PM Diversity is our Strength invited an army of refugees claimants to jump our border.

So yeah, here's what we need then - 100s of 1000s more to come in and hang about waiting for the bureaucracy to catch up (which it never will, of course). That's "Progressive."

There's a difference between refugees and immigrants you black or white extremists refuse to ever see. But your like down south is kicking out the cream of the crop. We should jump to skim off our share.
Obviously we can't handle 700,000 people all at once. Ridiculous to suggest that would even happen.
