llama66 llama66: Good. I'm sure she'll breathe easier once she's safely on Canadian Terra Firma. Now lets help the Afrikaans farmers get the hell out of S.A. Amen to that.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: Why can't they stay in their countries and change them from within? Do we really need another border jumper?
/s (in case you couldn't tell) Your sarcasm is duly noted. However, I remember when the Canadian Forces were in Kandahar. There was a 16 yr old girl working with them both as an interpreter and providing basic intel. The taliban even kidnapped her 10 yr old brother and tortured him, trying to get him to talk. He didn't give his sister away. When it was time for the Canadians to leave, they strongly suggested the girl come with them for her own safety. She refused saying, "How can I help change my country from within if I'm not in it?"

BeaverFever BeaverFever: *Ahem*
Certain right-wing people on uere were wrong again....something about Canada turned her away or something? Well for once you were right. And like I said before. I'll give credit where credit is due when our Gov't and it's leaders when they do the right thing. So this is a win for Mr. Trudeau and his gov't. Now, all they have to do is to keep her and the girl from Saudi Arabia safe from that certain element of Canadians who think they have the right to impose their draconian religious views on others. Thankfully they got her out before the lunatics in Pakistan (no offence to the sane ones like Fighter) got their hands on her. But a question. With a story like this why is there no other print media apparently covering it and when you Google Asia Bibi coming to Canada all I could find is stories from last year?

She's not out yet. Hence why I said, lets send some CSOR boys to chaperone her to the airport.

Well since I won't sign up for CTV I don't know what the talking heads said but I did notice one thing that's more than a little odd about the CTV story. If you look, the dates are as follows from left to right. Jan 5, Jan 6 and Jan 4th which leads me to believe there's something wrong with this story. It doesn't take 24 days to get from Islamabad to Ottawa for a photo op. So, if this woman is really coming to Canada where are the other media outlet stories, because right now there are a great big zero when you google it? Also knowing Beaver Fever, why would he wait that long to post this latest revelation because I'm pretty sure he couldn't wait that 2 weeks period to gloat. So, until someone can post an actual story from a reputable news source I'm going to remain skeptical that this is really happening.

Everytime I Googled Asia Bibi and Canada all I got were old stories. But apparently there's nothing "official" yet and all we have is a statement from the gov't that they're working on it and one from Wilson Chowdry of the British Pakistani Association telling the Huffington Post she's coming? So hopefully there isn't a screwup with the Pakistani gov't letting her go because IIRC they signed an agreement with the radical opposition stating they'd prevent her from leaving the country.

That was before the last decision was handed down today. The agreement was likely until the final ruling had been made. Now that it's been made, and we've offered asylum, she will probably be here shortly. Especially since her family is already here. $1: The decision handed down Tuesday by the court upholds an October acquittal of Asia Bibi and clears the final legal obstacle for her to seek asylum

N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: Say your average Canadian does something like say, save a child from a burning building.
He doesn't run around the lot looking for the media so he can grab the mic and squeal "Woo Hoo. Look at me. Look at what I did. Aren't I wonderful?"
But if somebody should shove a camera in his face he might say something like "No...uh, I just did what anybody would have done."
That what I mean by 'Act like a Canadian, Chrystia. You're embarrassing us." Why do you admire Trumps constant over-the-top PR stunts and endless teeeting then

So once again, good for our Gov't now all we have to do is get her here in one piece.
