At best this guy should have gotten a suspended sentence. But hey, don't defend yourself and your family or you'll go to jail.

Can't really blame the good people on the reserves from not wasting their time calling or helping the police when they're the ones, and not the perpetual troublemakers, who get in shit with the law when these things happen. Could use Shep to post on this because he probably encounters this kind of effect where he's teaching.

Interesting. Colton Boushie gets killed trespassing and the govt shits its pants whining about the verdict.
Dakota, who was CLEARLY in a a self-defence situation, is getting 5 years for essentially doing the same thing Gerald Stanley wasn't convicted of. In fact one could easily argue that Dakota was in a FAR more precarious situation than Stanley.

Similar thing happened to a buddy of mine from Jamaica. Years ago he was convicted of 2nd degree murder for defending himself against 5 White guys. One of them had a knife and slashed my buddy's left arm open from just below the shoulder down to his forearm. The scar is STILL very prominent. He managed to get a hold of the knife in the struggle and gutted the goof that slashed his arm open. That got him 7 years in Kingston. I can't help but think though that if he had been a White guy jumped by 5 Black guys with a knife, if the sentence would have been the same or if he'd even been found guilty at all.

Speaking of Boushie case comparisons, isn’t it interesting that when its a white guy with a gun not in any imminent danger the verdict is not guilty for self defence ; but when it’s a sleeping unarmed Indian in the act of being murdered and defending himself with the attackers weapon, it’s 2.5 years for manslaughter.

The jury verdict in the case showed that they didn't believe the police and prosecution story that the Stanley's weren't in "imminent" danger from Boushie and his shithead friends. Yours, and Trudeau's, response indicates that there's as much of a "white guy always guilty" attitude in liberal Canada as there is a "Native always guilty" mindset that you accuse everyone else of having.

That sounds like a position he would take. We down south have Donald Trump, but you guys have Justin Trudeau (your version of Chelsea Clinton).

I’m not saying that the Boushie verdict was wrong but that’s the whole point the bar is so much lower when the accused is a white guy and all the Indians have all he deliberately removed from the jury. All the white guy had to say to the all-white jury is that they were Indians and they were trespassing and being disrespectful and presto he’s a a saint. The HYPOTHETICAL danger the accused may or may not have been in from these youth doesn’t compare to the ACTUAL danger of waking up to being stabbed in the head by a trespassing intruder and yet only the latter gets jail.

Chelsea Clinton is by all accounts a very nice person. Trudeau isn't. He just acts at being one. If there's a definition for "empty suit" out there then Trudeau fits it perfectly.

The Natives in the court that were called for jury duty were recorded as saying things in regards to Stanley that they were "gonna get him". Maybe it's one of the things Trudeau wanted eliminated from jury selection but going in with innocence or guilt predetermined is one of those things that results in a potential juror being disqualified.

- any proof the jury that did come in with the verdict are all racists? or that the judge was too? or is this just the sort of thing a liberal gets to say without being held to account for it the same way that literally every else would?

- does Gerald Stanley's wife getting punched by one of Boushie's buddies during the incident count as "imminent danger" enough for you? or is it a typical thing for the liberal mindset where someone has to be on death's door before they or a family member can defend themselves while being violently attacked?

Just wondering.

Dang guy should have been given a freaking medal for doing a great job in self defense. Old saying goes better to be tried by 12 then buried by 6. IF he does serve even a day in jail, appeal process will clear him I hope, let it be in minimum security and have him get out on early parole of some sort.

Ignorant laws are no excuse for the ignorant fools who gleefully enforce them.
