There is. All we have to do it use the logical side of our psyche to legislate and enforce the random and angry side into submission.

All it takes is the will.

The herd is too collectively stupid and too susceptible to mass-manipulation by the true evil-doers out there for any positive outcome to be likely. It's not impossible there will be some kind of positive change, but it's really not probable, at least not without some kind of meta/mega-catastrophe to finally convince everyone that the current path is leading to an edge of an abyss, and that the old methods are causing more damage than help. All signs right now indicate that as a group humans have peaked ethically and morally, and what is happening now is just the first stage of a fall back into a tyrannized sort of depravity. After us comes the deluge, so to speak. :|

As for this democracy thing everyone keeps putting their hopes in...

I'll tl;dr you the program I linked to.

Basically, we are a very violent species. But since we have legislated against things like torture, murder, and even animal cruelty; and enforced punishment on those breaking the law, we have become a much less violent civilization. Looking at the media might give you the idea that we are far more violent, but the stats from courts etc. paint a different picture. The media just highlights that part of our nature disproportionately.

So we can change our nature, if we apply legislation and punishment for bad behavior. Like a carbon levy to reduce carbon emissions.

Ships cannot go EV. They contribute significantly to carbon emissions

Carbon tax annual check?

Must be everywhere but BC where we got an initial rebate check and have then paid for an ever rising carbon tax every year. We were supposed to get a reduction in our taxes but that never happened and actually when you consider the "user fee" taxes the Liberals introduced on pretty much every service in the province our taxes went up.

So while the tax claims to be reducing petrol consumption and our environmental impact while growing our economy it's apparently not exactly true and that less than accurate assessment could acutally serve as a cautionary tale for the rest of Canada hanging their hat on the claim about Canada's Carbon Tax saving the planet by reducing our already minuscule carbon footprint.

Good thing President Trump pulled the US out of the Paris Agreement so we don't have to pay this absurd tax that will do exactly NOTHING except give the political class more money to steal.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind-assisted_propulsion

BC Ferries are being constructed with natural gas/diesel, hybrid EV and pure electrics. Large cruise ships burn through so much oil the Vancouver Port Authority's been running ads about how they can now plug in and shut their engines down while tied up to cut emissions.
Sales of EV/Hybrids are WAY UP, like they hit 15% of all new vehicles in BC a couple months ago. Because of high gas prices, of which the Carbon Tax was a dime.
Yeah they do work. And sorry to contradict Bart but Trump, on top of every other flaw is an ENEMY of the environment.

Just found out someone I know bought a Chevy Bolt last fall. They can drive from here to Prince George AND BACK on a single charge, in the cold. Have to plug it in while shopping, so I hope Costco and WalMart add a few Park&Charge spots!
Another friend got a Mitsubishi PHEV SUV for his wife, she teaches in town, they live on the other side of the lake. Says she drives it once in a while to the next town and the gas motor kicks in part way there. They're driving to Prince George this week to use up the gas in the tank before it goes stale, she last filled a couple months ago.
Rapidly losing enthusiasm for buying an RV. There's a Winny across the street for 5K, perfect condition BUT with that 454 it would be cheaper to run a plugin hybrid, stay in motels and eat in restaurants.

What would you propose? Sail?

Be happy most ships don't burn Bunker C anymore. Most are NatGas or cleaner oil powered.
