That's fucking creepy.

All this "smart" tech is way too vulnerable to hackers who will always find a way around any security measures.

What he hell do people expect? So long as they leave themselves open to hacking by using electronic devices which aren't secured this is going to remain common place. All these bluetooth and wifi networks will make sure of that.

And the scary part is that even old buggers like me are vulnerable because despite, having no baby monitors, alexa like machines, camera's in my TV's, my phone turned off most times, no camera in my desktop and the camera covered on my laptop I still drive a new enough vehicle that if these creepy bastards wanted to, they could kill me in a heartbeat by hacking my truck.

Maybe we should stop focusing on what about mother nature has in store for us and start worrying alot more about which companies new innovation is going to get us murdered in our sleep or killed on our way to work. ROTFL

I've been warning people of that for years. Those 'smart' thermostats have a microphone in it. Those smart light bulbs send all your information back to Google. Why does your fridge need to surf for appliance porn? 'Smart' appliances are not your friends.

I took an IOT security course through MIT a couple years back, and the one thing I learnt is they pretty much cannot be secured. You have to put them on a separate network from your other stuff, and most people don't know how to do that.
