And even better than hiding it in a garbage truck was to get some idiot permanent resident from India to transport it across the border.

And since he wasn't a Canadian citizen we have no obligation to demand the US return his sorry ass to Canada to serve his sentence and as the matter of fact if he ever gets back to Canada he should be deported immediately for serious criminality. But, with any luck the US will save us the time and effort by deporting him back to India upon completion of his sentence.

I do sincerely hope that this clowns Canadian dream was to spend it languishing in a US prison while being used as a squeeze toy by his new best friend and cellmate Bubba.

None of this story makes any sense. You pick a time when the border is closed except to essential business. That means that we have the same amount of border agents working as before the shutdown with a drastically smaller amount of clients crossing the border. That means that every client gets that much more personal attention from said border agents. You pick the smelliest and most easily detectable drug with the lowest amount of markup to smuggle across the border. Numerous states have legal weed. Some of the best weed on the planet comes from the U.S. Its not like weed is that hard to get in the states that someone would have to risk their freedom to procure. If someone is going to risk years in prison for drug smuggling, at least bring in a product that is not mass produced in the U.S., and is in high demand like cocaine, or heroin. Products that are much harder to detect, and have a much larger markup.

If I were the judge I would give this dipshit extra time just for being so fucking stupid. Anyone this stupid is a danger to the public at large. I am all for legalization and decriminalization of drugs. General stupidity on the other hand deserves much harsher penalties than are being imposed today.

Not hard to get, but hard to get cheaply. The rich white guys who own the legal cannabis trade still want their millions of dollars in annual bonuses.

That keeps the illegal producers in business, because their product can be 1/4 the price. Sometimes with better quality.
