I only ever add honesty and a sense of reason to cut through the hysterical right-wing nonesense hoisted on us by the usual suspects.

Sorry for your luck over gomery.

Wow. 8O

That sig has been up for 3-4 months.

Openly admitting you are a moron is the first step.

Don't worry though. Out of necessity the CPC has many such programs helping their people overcome their moronic tendencies. They can help you and when you graduate you be allowed to vote Liberal or NDP.

I waited to comment here because I wanted to discuss this very article with my Iranian co-worker to gain some perspective. He says that marriage of a 1-year old child to a full grown adult is simply unheard of. Such "marriages" are almost certainly arranged marriages of children by parents and are considered rare even by their standards. The idea that some 40 year old pedophile is getting legitimate access to a child is just plain nonesense.

Of course if you don't agree with Saudi culture then don't live there.

Iranians have different traditions (for iranians who kept their own traditions and did not adopt the wahabis/khomeinist ones). He is referring probably to promises of alliance or marriages that exist in powerful families (to keep money and power inside, or to ally to a tribe, adults plan in advance for the marriage of their children). Yes even these are rare or nonexistent outside the Gulf States.

But I've heard from some moroccan immigrants to these countries (so I have no serious proof just rumors) that paedophilia (and homosexuality of barely adults with much older men) exists there. The reason could be that even inside the "arabian" society for example in Saudia, there are informal casts (they still have multi-level citizenship, not all saudis are equals). So giving a child as a gift for some powerful "lord" to seek protection (officially so that this child will be raised with the Lord's family, but who knows) is apparently common or at least accepted.

One thing I'm sure of: this society cannot have a healthy sexual behavior. How would that possible if men and women both live under extreme anti-sex pressure, live with the same sex for half of their lives, grow up in a society that protect discrimination : slavery against non Saudis mostly from poor islamic countries, racism again other religions or ethnicities, violent laws-sharia, sexism to the extreme, supremacism ("wahabism is superrior to other islams, saudi-arabic RACE is superior to other islamised populations who needs to be continually correctly re-islamized)...

More ever, their religious school is full of shit even by the most conservative islamic standards. These are the guys who consider that a women victim or rape should be punished to death for adultery because she "made the male do a mistake" and their religious authorities where trying to "export" to the rest of islamic countries these kind of laws for our own "interests". Even the Egyptian Islamic Brotherhood (yes the inventor of islamism, the ideological cornerstone of militant islam) were disgusted, it was rejected too by the most conservative religious institution on Egypt (AL-Azhar). Oil should have a lot of side effects on mental health...

STFU and go marry your bride to be of 1 yrs old.

If you're going to try and defend something, at least pick a topic where you're not defending pedofilia.

there has been some talk about respecting their religious 'tradition' yadda yadda yadda. If this kind of 1 year old marrying thing is deeply engrained in their religion, like if it specifically says in the Korhan that this shit is cool, then well who are we to judge, just kinda grin and bear it.

But this anouncement came what, like last week? I'll mirror naelch's comment that these rules and 'laws' are both disturbing and laughable.

But well, soverign country, and i don't think they are breaking any international laws (would love to be proven wrong), I guess the only thing we can really do is make sure that these sick fucks don't lobby to make it legal in Canada.

Just a little precision ;) . Because there are (were actually if we consider the media and $$$ power of Saudia) many different islamic traditions, nostly by region and influenced by local pagan (pre-islamic) culture. usually a mixture or animist, jewish and christian (as all these religions preceded islam in its actual area).

Frankly, I don't want to be racist anti-saudi, but I've tried to look into their pagan traditions: wars, sex, wine. and Mecca as a religious supermarket (during polytheist era, and it didn't change).

Replace wine with cocaine and you have modern "elite" (i.e power circle) Saudia.

ALL other islamised (and consequently arabized, either by language or culture or arabians migrations) had something "civilized" or developped. Everyone has "been made to forget" that. In all islamized population, pre-islamic civs are either ridiculized, or simply "formatted".

This is why I've always had the impression that Saudi all-powerful-clerics, feeling that they are based on void and having some inferiority complex, have a secret hate against other muslims (who have othjer backgrounds). They have called for the destruction of an old turkish castle in Saudia, wished for Pyramids demolition, applauded at the downfall of Persians, BLESSED talibans Giant Bhuddahs destruction (and other indo-aryans artifacts).

But again, I may be missing something. Need more investigation.

If this kind of 1 year old marrying thing is deeply engrained in their religion,

Koran considers puberty as the minimum (but is still paedophila by modern scientific standards). It also states that marriage is void without CLEAR, free and conscious consent of the Bride, which exludes children.

But again muslims don't know much about Koran, as they mostly follow clerics (so local traditions mixed with the worst of others' traditions). They also follow the Muhammad Tradition (Sunna) which is a mass of BS even by islamic standards, because each tribe and general after Muhammad's death invented quotes to justify this and that. (debates and logical studies over sunna gave birth to islamic philosophy during Persians-Iraqui era, the golden scientific age of islam. They were later exterminated 300 years after by clerics and that started the death and zombification of islamic civs).

Quote:

It's rather a Sunna source that reports on the sunni side that Muhammad married a 9 years old. Chiaa side says she was 19. Who knows...

(Personally I'd side with the 9 old, as at that time he was old and completly trasformed/corrupted by the power game he started. Chia, mostly at the origin persians, found that probably offensive and corrected the "age". Because one of them should have cheated with the number)

Humans. WE have to judge. Even if we cannot do anything...now.

Welcome to the paranormal world of Saudia. There another one, what sane people called in Morocco the Pokemon Fatwa. To stop the Pokemons' Invasion in Saudis schools (Allahmon was not included, sold separatly  ), they said tha pokemon (please follow the halal logic):

WTF1- is a hebrew word
WTF2- hebrew (LANGUAGE!) is the ennemy of arabic language
WTF3- pokemons are made in israel (which became a shinto-buddist country, located in east asia) to make saudis children forget their arabic so that they can't read the koran so that the Great Zionist Invasion can take place blah blah...

80% of the islamic population worldwide died laughing, the rest were offended by the lack of faith of the 80%...

I have some others, like "the man never landed on the moon" fatwa because it's the first of the seven skies (dismissed only in the 90's because of the shame factor), also earth is not round (serious, dismissed only in the 70's), Women are genetically inferiors (still "cool").

The Al-wahab BullFatwasS**t industries are the all-powerful stoopidfatwas.com owners. They have gained so much power in Saudia that their kings are afraid of them. In a country ruled by religion, with no other national background, better side with the crazy clerics to have you dose of oil, drugs and gang bangs...

But well, soverign country, and i don't think they are breaking any international laws (would love to be proven wrong),

Even if it was the case. They are close allies with the US and their role is just growing because of Iran. Also with all the oil crisis...

They have no chance. What I find sad and hopless is that different kinds of muslims (not necessarily arabs), and arabs (not necessarily muslims) don't try to be more themselves and defend their regional (not only official national) view, dialects, traditions. One thing I've noticed in islam more in any other other religion: It turns you into a perfect conformist, afraid to be indiviual, to be different (as you are), to say no and to go against the crowd.

I guess centuries of killing those who tried so plus giving lessons to populations to conform (Fear of foreigners, fear of treason, emotional blackmail and victimisation/irresponsability) have indoctrined many. This is already beign "corrected" in some countries by the change is fragile...or perhaps too late.

PS: although these posts seem anti-saudi, I don't want to generalise and just remind that I have no solid facts (satistics). Also North africans have a lot to be blamed for, the only thing is that we did not reach that level of stupidity or savagery...yet (and hope never).

Nael.

What next, arranged marriage to embryos while still in the womb? Or maybe get the bids in before the child is even conceived, I mean why waste time?

They're are certain lines one does not cross, regardless of culture, traditions or perceived rights. Abuse of minors is one line that no excuse applies. Using child soldiers because your tribe has used them for hundreds of years is no excuse; having sex with a nine year old bride because it is culturally accepted is no excuse; getting married to a one year old because your religion says it is okay is no excuse. However if you feel deep in your soul that these acts are acceptable please present your arguments.

Not to mention that if it's ok there it is only a matter of time until some immigrant in a western country takes his case for it to the Supreme Court and soon it will be ok here too, because (Gasp...) we can't stifle their religious beliefs.
