I really think Dion's challenge for a debate has more to do with the Liberals wanting to have a head start on countering the Conservative's arguments against the tax before an election more than anything else but that's just my opinion.

$1:
The poll found two-thirds of Canadians think a carbon tax will encourage more environmentally responsible behaviour, suggesting that the public might be receptive to the Liberal concept.

But first, Dion is going to have to explain better his proposal to curb greenhouse gas emissions. A majority of Ontario residents say they're in the dark about the party's proposed carbon tax.

Angus Reid Strategies conducted the poll for the Star Monday and yesterday. It conducted an online survey of 1,007 adult Canadians. Results from a survey that size are considered accurate to within 3.1 percentage points, 19 times in 20. ( by Angus Reid )

So they extrapolated all that political bias from a vague question of only 1000
Canadians who they e-mailed?

Yeah! That's solid. You guys need to run with this puppy! It's as good as gold!

This is my favorate part:

But yet they claim:

So 2/3's of Canadians who are in the dark about this plan support it? Where did they conduct this poll, Liberal headquarters?

The Toronto Star wouldn't be so bias would it? Not with fine unbias reporters and bloggers like Susan Delacourt.

One of the comments on SDA noted this little jem:

$1:
Headlines Via National News Watch: The Deluge of Propaganda>

"Canadians want TV debate on Liberals' carbon tax, poll finds"
"Can `green shift' alter Quebec climate?"
"Dion's carbon tax the fairest option for Canada"
"Canada deserves green debate"
OK, Alberta oil producers, start thinking carbon taxes"
"Dion's green anti-poverty plan"
"Canada can lead on greener path"
"The Green Shift is good for Canada"
"Green Dion: refreshing but flawed"
"Timely warning on climate change"

"Liberals stand fast on shift to green"

Obviously the media is falling in liock step over this.
Pretty big media for the leader of the official opposition, isn't it.

I'd love to see a debate on the subject, But only if the Greens and NDP are also involved.

I don't think that CO2 affects Quebec.. and if it does, it's the fault of the English or those damned minorities again!

Besides, they'll just ask for more money anyways.

You just cant get your head around the fact that the climate and the harmful changes that are taking place are real and an important issue for us to tackle for survival.. You have your head in your ass if you think it isnt a real problem...why dont you change your nic to acidrain it would suit you better..

Speaking of acid rain...ever wonder why you hardly ever hear about it anymore?

Kind of a fascinating article on that here...
