No I think they're real. The Mustangs in the picture being built are the older razor back version with the Allison engines. That was the original style before they put the Merlins in them.........and the rest is history.

I was thinking the same thing as Trev but I think they are real. They just did a really good job on the colour touch ups. Either way they're awsome pics, thanks for posting them.

There are also colour pictures from World War 1 for those interested. Up until 3 months ago I never knew there were colour photos from that era.

The P-51s in the flying picture are factory-fresh NA-91 which display protruding barrels of the four 20mm cannon which were typical for this variant. Originaly designed for and produced for the British, they did not get all of these NA-91s. Since the RAF deliveries took place after Pearl Harbor, many were repossessed by the Army and designated F-6A and P-51.

Picture of Mustangs sitting are: Converting the British Mustang IAs to F-6A configuration. Note the blanked-off cannon stubs.
Also, two of the aircraft carry the RAF green and brown scheme,
while two other are green overall.
The aircraft at the far left has an interesting set of markings,
combining an American star on the fuselage with RAF fin flash
